Ticagrelor Stada

This medicine, Ticagrelor Stada, helps prevent blood clots from forming by stopping blood cells called platelets from clumping together, reducing the risk of heart attack, stroke, and cardiovascular death.

How to Use

Dosage

Take one tablet (60 mg or 90 mg) twice a day, as prescribed by your doctor.

Method

You can take the tablet with or without food. If you find it hard to swallow, crush the tablet into a fine powder, mix it with half a glass of water, stir, and drink immediately. Rinse the glass with another half glass of water and drink to ensure all medicine is taken.

Important

Follow your doctor's instructions. The usual maximum is one tablet twice a day (e.g., 90mg twice a day equals 180mg).

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • High uric acid levels in blood (seen in blood tests)
  • Easy bruising or bleeding (e.g. nosebleeds, bleeding gums, more bleeding than usual after cuts/surgery, stomach bleeding)
  • Headache
  • Dizziness or a feeling of spinning
  • Diarrhea or indigestion
  • Nausea
  • Constipation
  • Rash
  • Itching
  • Severe joint pain and swelling (gout)
  • Feeling dizzy, weak, or having blurry vision (signs of low blood pressure)
  • Shortness of breath (usually mild and often goes away)
  • Fainting (temporary loss of consciousness)
RARE
  • Allergic reaction (skin rash, itching, swollen face, lips, or tongue)
  • Confusion
  • Vision problems due to bleeding in the eye
  • Heavier or unusual vaginal bleeding (not related to normal period)
  • Bleeding into joints or muscles (causing painful swelling)
  • Blood in the ear
  • Internal bleeding (may cause dizziness or weakness)
  • Unusually slow heart rate (usually below 60 beats per minute)
  • Bleeding in the brain (signs can be sudden numbness/weakness on one side of the body, confusion, trouble speaking/understanding, balance issues, sudden severe headache)
  • Signs of serious internal bleeding (vomiting red blood or coffee grounds, red or black tar-like stool, pink/red/brown urine, coughing up blood clots)
  • Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (TTP) (fever, purplish spots on skin/mouth, yellow skin/eyes, extreme tiredness, confusion)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to ticagrelor or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you are currently bleeding.
  • Do not take if you have had a stroke caused by bleeding in the brain.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver disease.
  • Do not take with certain medicines such as ketoconazole (for fungal infections), clarithromycin (for bacterial infections), nefazodone (antidepressant), ritonavir, or atazanavir (for HIV/AIDS).

  • Tell your doctor if you have a higher risk of bleeding due to a recent serious injury, recent surgery (including dental surgery), a blood clotting disorder, or recent stomach/bowel bleeding.
  • Tell your doctor if you are having surgery (including dental surgery); your doctor might ask you to stop this medicine 5 days before the operation to reduce bleeding risk.
  • Tell your doctor if your heart rate is unusually slow (under 60 beats per minute) and you do not have a pacemaker.
  • Tell your doctor if you have asthma or other lung problems, or if you experience unusual breathing (fast, slow, or with pauses).
  • Tell your doctor if you have had liver problems or if blood tests show high uric acid levels in your blood.
  • Do not use if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. Use effective birth control during treatment.

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Initiation of treatment in specialized care. Consider potential interactions especially with other drugs that increase the risk of bleeding. Avoid grapefruit. (updated 19.9.2025)
