How to Use

Dosage

Take one 250 mg tablet once a day.

Method

Swallow the tablet with water, with or without food.

Important

The maximum daily dose is one 250 mg tablet.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache
  • Stomach problems like feeling full, poor appetite, indigestion, bloating, nausea, stomach pain, and diarrhea.
  • Skin reactions such as rashes and hives (red, itchy skin).
  • Muscle and joint pain.
  • Feeling down or depressed.
  • Changes in taste, including temporary or long-lasting loss of taste, which can sometimes lead to less eating and weight loss.
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness.
  • Blurred vision or less sharp eyesight.
  • Feeling tired.
RARE
  • Serious liver problems, including yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice), liver inflammation (hepatitis), or blocked bile flow. Symptoms may include itching, constant nausea, loss of appetite, extreme tiredness, vomiting, upper right belly pain, dark urine, or pale stools.
  • Serious allergic reactions with swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, trouble breathing or swallowing, or severe skin reactions (like widespread rashes, redness, or blisters).
  • Very severe skin diseases with redness, fever, blisters, or peeling skin (e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, or erythema multiforme).
  • Changes in blood cell counts, which can lead to easier bleeding or bruising, or more frequent or severe infections.
  • Unexplained muscle weakness or pain, or dark (reddish-brown) urine, which can be signs of muscle breakdown that may affect kidneys.
  • Severe upper abdominal pain that spreads to the back, possibly a sign of pancreas inflammation.
  • Skin rash, fever, itching, tiredness, or red-purple spots under the skin, which can be signs of blood vessel inflammation.
  • Low red blood cell count (anemia).
  • Feeling anxious.
  • Tingling or numbness (pins and needles).
  • Reduced sense of touch.
  • Ringing or buzzing in the ears (tinnitus).
  • Skin reactions to sunlight (photosensitivity reactions).
  • Fever.
  • Weight loss.
  • Increased levels of liver enzymes in blood tests.
  • General feeling of being unwell.
  • Dizziness or a spinning sensation (vertigo).
  • New or worsening symptoms of lupus (a long-term disease with skin rash, joint and muscle pain).
  • Psoriasis-like rash or worsening of existing psoriasis.
  • Hair loss.
  • Irregular periods or breakthrough bleeding.
  • A serious allergic reaction (like serum sickness) with rash, fever, and inflamed joints.
  • Changes in smell, including permanent loss of smell or reduced sense of smell.
  • Impaired hearing, hearing loss, or numbness in the ears.
  • A severe skin reaction called DRESS syndrome, with rash and an increased number of certain white blood cells.
  • Flu-like symptoms.
  • Increased levels of a muscle enzyme called creatine phosphokinase (CPK) in the blood (seen in blood tests).

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to terbinafine or any other ingredients, or if you have or have had liver problems.
  • If you get a rash during treatment, tell your doctor right away.
  • Tell your doctor if your kidneys are not working well.
  • Tell your doctor if you have psoriasis (a skin disease) or lupus (an autoimmune disease).
  • This medicine is not recommended for children.

  • Contact your doctor if you have symptoms of liver problems, such as ongoing nausea, poor appetite, tiredness, yellow skin or eyes, dark urine, pale stools, or itching.
  • Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, unless your doctor says it's absolutely necessary.
  • This medicine can cause dizziness. If you feel dizzy, do not drive or use machines.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose in moderately severe renal impairment. Contraindicated in case of severe hepatic impairment. Consider potential significant interactions. (updated 11.9.2023)
