How to Use

Dosage

For GIST or kidney cancer, the usual dose is 50 mg once daily for 28 days, followed by a 14-day break from the medicine. This forms a 6-week treatment cycle. For pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, the usual dose is 37.5 mg once daily without a treatment break.

Method

You can take Sunitinib Stada with or without food.

Important

The maximum daily dose is usually 50 mg for certain cancers and 37.5 mg for others, as directed by your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Decreased number of platelets, red blood cells, and/or white blood cells (e.g., neutrophils)
  • Shortness of breath
  • High blood pressure
  • Severe tiredness, weakness
  • Swelling caused by fluid retention under the skin and around the eyes; deep allergic skin inflammation
  • Mouth pain/irritation, mouth sores/inflammation/dryness, taste changes, stomach upset, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, stomach pain or swelling, loss or decrease of appetite
  • Decreased thyroid function (hypothyroidism)
  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Nosebleeds
  • Back pain, joint pain
  • Pain in limbs
  • Yellowing/discoloration of skin, increased skin pigmentation (darkening), changes in hair color, rash on palms and soles, rash, dry skin
  • Cough
  • Fever
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Blood clots in blood vessels
  • Insufficient blood flow to the heart muscle due to blocked or narrowed coronary arteries
  • Chest pain
  • Reduced amount of blood pumped by the heart
  • Fluid retention in the body, including around the lungs

  • Complication caused by severe infection (infection in the bloodstream) which can lead to tissue damage, organ dysfunction, and death
  • Low blood sugar
  • Protein in urine (proteinuria) which can sometimes cause swelling
  • Flu-like symptoms
  • Abnormal blood test results, including pancreatic and liver enzyme levels
  • High uric acid level in blood
  • Hemorrhoids, rectal pain, bleeding gums, difficulty or inability to swallow
  • Burning sensation or pain in the tongue, inflammation of the gastrointestinal lining, flatulence
  • Weight loss
  • Musculoskeletal pain (pain in muscles and bones), muscle weakness, muscle fatigue, muscle pain, muscle cramps
  • Dry nose, stuffy nose
  • Increased tear production
  • Unusual skin sensations, itching, peeling skin or skin inflammation, blisters, acne, nail discoloration, hair loss
  • Unusual sensations in limbs
  • Unusually decreased or increased sensitivity, especially touch sensitivity
  • Heartburn
  • Dehydration
  • Hot flashes
  • Abnormally colored urine
  • Depression
  • Chills
RARE
  • Life-threatening infection of soft tissues, including around the anus and genitals
  • Stroke
  • Heart attack caused by blocked or reduced blood flow to the heart
  • Changes in the heart's electrical activity or abnormal heart rhythm
  • Fluid buildup around the heart (pericardial effusion)
  • Liver failure
  • Abdominal pain caused by pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas)
  • Perforation (hole) in the digestive tract due to tumor breakdown
  • Gallbladder inflammation (swelling and redness) which may be associated with gallstones
  • Abnormal connection (fistula) from one body cavity to another or to the skin
  • Mouth, tooth, and/or jaw pain, swelling or sores inside the mouth, numbness or heavy feeling in the jaw, loose teeth; these can be signs of jawbone damage (osteonecrosis).
  • Overproduction of thyroid hormones, which increases the body's energy consumption at rest
  • Difficulties with wound healing after surgery
  • Increased level of muscle enzyme (creatine kinase) in the blood
  • Severe allergic reaction to an allergen, including hay fever, rash, itching, hives, swelling of body parts, and breathing difficulties
  • Inflammation of the large intestine (colitis, ischemic colitis)
  • Severe skin and/or mucous membrane reactions (Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, erythema multiforme)
  • Tumor lysis syndrome (TLS) – a group of metabolic complications that can occur during cancer treatment due to breakdown products from dying cancer cells. Symptoms can include nausea, shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat, muscle cramps, seizures, cloudy urine, and tiredness, along with abnormal lab results (high potassium, uric acid, and phosphate, low calcium). This syndrome can lead to kidney dysfunction and acute kidney failure.
  • Abnormal muscle cell damage that can lead to kidney problems (rhabdomyolysis)
  • Abnormal changes in the brain that can cause symptoms including headache, confusion, seizures, and vision loss (Posterior Reversible Leukoencephalopathy Syndrome - PRES)
  • Painful skin ulcers (pyoderma gangrenosum)
  • Liver inflammation (hepatitis)
  • Thyroid inflammation
  • Damage to small blood vessels, called thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA).
  • Enlargement and weakening of a blood vessel wall or rupture of a blood vessel wall (aneurysms and arterial dissections)
  • Lethargy, confusion, drowsiness, unconsciousness/coma – these symptoms can be signs of brain toxicity caused by high ammonia levels in the blood (hyperammonemic encephalopathy).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Sunitinib Stada if you are allergic to sunitinib or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have high blood pressure, as this medicine can raise it and may need treatment.
  • Inform your doctor if you have a blood disorder, bleeding problems, or bruise easily, as Sunitinib Stada can increase bleeding risk.
  • Tell your doctor if you have heart problems like severe tiredness, shortness of breath, or swollen feet and ankles, as Sunitinib Stada can affect your heart.
  • Tell your doctor if you have unusual changes in heart rhythm, dizziness, fainting, or abnormal heartbeats.

  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience symptoms of blood clots, such as chest pain, arm/back/jaw pain, shortness of breath, numbness/weakness on one side of the body, speech problems, headache, or dizziness.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had an aneurysm (weakening or bulging of a blood vessel wall) or a ruptured blood vessel.
  • Inform your doctor if you have or have had damage to small blood vessels (TMA), with symptoms like fever, tiredness, bruising, bleeding, swelling, confusion, vision loss, or seizures.
  • Tell your doctor if you have thyroid disease or notice new symptoms like extreme tiredness, feeling cold easily, or a deeper voice, as Sunitinib Stada can affect your thyroid.
  • Contact your doctor if you have abdominal pain (upper stomach), nausea, vomiting, or fever, as these could be signs of pancreatic or gallbladder inflammation.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver problems or notice symptoms like itching, yellow skin/eyes, dark urine, or pain in the upper right abdomen.
  • Inform your doctor if you have kidney problems, as your kidney function will be monitored.
  • Tell your doctor if you are having surgery or recently had surgery, as Sunitinib Stada can affect wound healing, and treatment might need to be paused.
  • You might need a dental check-up before starting Sunitinib Stada. Contact your doctor and dentist immediately if you have mouth, tooth, or jaw pain, swelling, sores, numbness, heavy feeling in the jaw, or loose teeth.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had a skin condition, especially if you develop painful skin sores, fast-spreading infections, severe rashes (like Stevens-Johnson syndrome), or widespread blistering/peeling of the skin.
  • Report to your doctor immediately if you have seizures, high blood pressure, headache, or vision loss.
  • If you have diabetes, your blood sugar levels will be checked regularly. Tell your doctor if you experience signs of low blood sugar like tiredness, fast heartbeat, sweating, hunger, or passing out.
