How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will determine the exact dose, which for adults is typically between 200 and 2000 MBq depending on the examination; for children, it is based on their weight.

Method

Medimibi is given as an injection into a vein in your arm or leg.

Important

If two injections are needed for a heart examination, the total dose should not exceed 2000 MBq in a single day.

  • Metallic or bitter taste in your mouth
  • Changes in your sense of smell
  • Dry mouth right after the injection
RARE
  • Headache
  • Chest pain
  • Abnormal heart test results (ECG)
  • Feeling sick (nausea)
  • Abnormal heart rhythm
  • Local reactions where the injection was given (e.g., pain, redness)
  • Stomach pain
  • Fever
  • Fainting
  • Seizures (fits)
  • Dizziness
  • Redness of the skin
  • Numbness or tingling feeling in the skin
  • Feeling tired
  • Joint pain
  • Upset stomach (indigestion)
  • Severe skin rash that can affect your mouth (erythema multiforme)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Medimibi if you are allergic to copper tetramibi-tetrafluoroborate or any other ingredients.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, or are breastfeeding, as the doctor will decide if the benefits outweigh the risks. If you are breastfeeding, you will need to stop for 24 hours after the injection and discard your milk.
  • Inform your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease.
  • If you are having a heart scan, you must not eat for at least 4 hours before the examination.
  • Drink plenty of water before the scan and keep urinating often for several hours after to help remove the medicine from your body.
