How to Use

Dosage

Typically, one 15 mg or 30 mg capsule once a day, but your doctor will tell you the exact dose and how long to take it.

Method

Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water, at least 30 minutes before food, preferably in the morning. Do not crush or chew it.

Important

Up to 60 mg daily for certain conditions (e.g., H. pylori infection), as prescribed by your doctor. Do not exceed the dose your doctor tells you.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache, dizziness
  • Nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, constipation, gas
  • Dry or sore mouth/throat
  • Benign stomach polyps (small growths in the stomach)
  • Changes in liver test results
  • Rash, itching
  • Tiredness
RARE
  • Changes in blood cell counts
  • Depression, insomnia, hallucinations, confusion, restlessness, drowsiness, tremor
  • Muscle or joint pain, swelling, fluid retention
  • Anemia (paleness)
  • Visual disturbances
  • Inflammation of the tongue or mouth, yeast infections, pancreatitis, changes in taste
  • Liver inflammation (may cause yellowing of skin or eyes)
  • Skin reactions like burning, stinging, bruising, redness, hair loss, or sensitivity to light
  • Kidney problems
  • Enlarged breasts in men
  • Fever, excessive sweating, loss of appetite, impotence
  • Severe allergic reactions (swelling of face, tongue, throat, difficulty swallowing/breathing, hives)
  • Very severe skin reactions (e.g., extensive rash, blistering, skin peeling, severe inflammation)
  • Weakened infection resistance due to decreased white blood cells
  • Changes in blood levels of magnesium, sodium, potassium, calcium, cholesterol, or triglycerides

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to lansoprazole or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have serious liver disease, as your dose may need to be adjusted.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience persistent diarrhea, as this medicine may increase the risk of infectious diarrhea.
  • If you take this medicine for a long time (more than a year), your doctor will monitor you regularly.
  • Long-term use (over a year) may slightly increase the risk of bone fractures. Inform your doctor if you have osteoporosis or are at risk.

  • Kidney inflammation may occur. Tell your doctor if you notice symptoms like reduced urine, blood in urine, fever, rash, or joint pain.
  • Discuss with your doctor if you have low vitamin B12 levels or risk factors, as long-term use can reduce B12 absorption.
  • Tell your doctor as soon as possible if you get a rash, especially in sun-exposed areas, or any severe skin reactions (like Stevens-Johnson syndrome). Stop use and seek immediate medical help if severe skin reactions occur.
  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all other medicines you are taking, as Lansoprazol Krka can affect how other drugs work.
  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
  • Be careful when driving or operating machinery if you experience side effects like dizziness, vertigo, tiredness, or vision problems.
  • Lansoprazol Krka should not be given to children.
  • Do not stop treatment early, even if your symptoms improve, as your condition may not be fully cured and could return.

Category A

Suitable for older adults. For short-term use only. Consider the numerous potential interactions, especially with clopidogrel and (es)citalopram. Avoid long-term use. Long-term use carries an increased risk of adverse effects. Risk of hypomagnesemia in prolonged use. (updated 10.11.2025)
