How to Use

Dosage

For adults, the dose is 150 mg on the first day of chemotherapy. For children (6 months to 17 years), the dose is based on their age and weight.

Method

The medicine is given as a drip into a vein by a healthcare professional about 30 minutes (adults) or 60-90 minutes (children) before chemotherapy.

For adults, the recommended maximum dose is 150 mg on the first day of treatment. For children, the maximum dose must not be exceeded.

  • Dizziness, drowsiness
  • Acne, rash
  • Restlessness
  • Belching, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, stomach pain, dry mouth, gas
  • Increased pain or burning during urination
  • Feeling weak, general feeling of being unwell
  • Facial/skin redness, flushing
  • Fast or irregular heartbeat, high blood pressure
  • Fever with increased risk of infection, reduced red blood cells, pain at infusion site, redness and itching at infusion site, inflammation of veins at infusion site
  • Difficulty thinking, weakness, taste disorders
  • Skin sensitivity to sunlight, excessive sweating, oily skin, skin wounds, itchy rash, severe skin reactions (Stevens-Johnson syndrome / toxic epidermal necrolysis)
  • Euphoria (abnormal feeling of well-being), disorientation
  • Bacterial infections, fungal infections
  • Severe constipation, stomach ulcer, small and large intestine inflammation, mouth sores, bloating
  • Frequent urination, increased urine output, sugar or blood in urine
  • Chest discomfort, swelling, changes in gait
  • Cough, phlegm in throat, throat irritation, sneezing, sore throat
  • Watery and itchy eyes
  • Ringing in ears
  • Muscle spasms, muscle weakness
  • Constant thirst
  • Slow heartbeat, cardiovascular disease
  • Reduced white blood cells, low sodium levels in blood, weight loss
  • Hardening at infusion site

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to fosaprepitant, aprepitant, polysorbate 80, or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use with medicines containing pimozide (for mental illnesses), terfenadine or astemizole (for allergies), or cisapride (for digestion problems). Tell your doctor if you are taking these.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver disease, as your liver function may need to be monitored.
  • Do not give to children under 6 months old or weighing less than 6 kg.
  • Hormonal birth control (like pills, patches, or implants) may not work as well. Use another non-hormonal birth control method during treatment and for two months after.

  • This medicine can cause dizziness and drowsiness. Avoid driving or operating machines if you feel dizzy or sleepy.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Breastfeeding is not recommended during treatment.
  • Stop taking the medicine and get immediate medical help if you experience a severe allergic reaction (hives, rash, itching, difficulty breathing or swallowing, or a serious drop in blood pressure).
  • Reactions at the infusion site, such as pain, swelling, redness, or skin damage, can occur.
