How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will calculate your dose based on your body surface area, usually 25,000 units per square meter.

Method

This medicine is given as an injection into a muscle or an infusion into a vein by a doctor or nurse. The powder is mixed with saline solution before use.

Important

Your doctor determines the maximum dose per administration based on your body surface area; it is usually given three times a week, not daily.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • General infection or serious infection (septic shock).
  • Fewer white, red blood cells, or platelets.
  • Increased fat, bilirubin, and certain digestive enzyme levels in blood.
  • Weight loss.
  • Body pain, including muscle and joint pain.
  • Nausea.
  • Diarrhea.
  • Inflammation in the digestive tract.
  • Stomach problems.
  • Fever.
  • Fatigue.
  • Headaches.
RARE
  • Diabetes complications (very high blood sugar).
  • Increased ammonium levels in the blood.
  • Seizures.
  • Fatty liver.
  • Worsened kidney function.
  • A brain condition called Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy Syndrome (PRES) with symptoms like headache, confusion, seizures, and vision loss.
  • Liver failure.
  • Painful joint condition (reactive arthritis).
  • Loss of appetite.
  • Inflammation of salivary glands in the back of the throat.
  • Low albumin (protein) in the blood, leading to fluid retention.
  • Skin blistering and peeling (toxic epidermal necrolysis).
  • Muscle pain.
  • Kidney problems with abnormal urine test results (high protein).

Important Warnings

  • Only doctors specialized in cancer treatment should give this medicine.
  • Severe, life-threatening allergic reactions can occur, with symptoms like blue lips, swelling of face/throat, breathing difficulties, rash, chills, and pale skin.
  • Serious stomach pain, which could be a fatal pancreas problem, requires immediate medical attention.
  • Your blood sugar may become very high and might need insulin treatment.
  • This medicine can lead to severe bleeding; treatment may be stopped if this happens.
