How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide your individual dose. Treatment usually starts with a small dose, which will be gradually increased as directed by your doctor.

Method

Take the tablets with liquid. You can usually take them with or without food, but if you have heart failure or tend to feel dizzy, it's recommended to take them with a meal.

  • Various skin reactions (e.g., itching, hives, rash)
  • Stuffy nose
  • Low number of platelets in blood
  • Low number of white blood cells in blood
  • Allergic reactions (other than skin reactions mentioned above)
  • Increased liver enzyme levels in blood
  • Urinary incontinence in women
  • Severe skin reactions (e.g., Erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome)
  • Hallucinations
  • Excessive sweating
  • Heart rhythm problems (sinus arrest) in patients prone to it

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to carvedilol or any of its other ingredients.
  • Do not take this medicine if your heart rate is very slow (under 50 beats per minute) or your blood pressure is very low (upper number below 85 mmHg).
  • Do not take this medicine if you have asthma or other severe breathing problems.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have a serious heart rhythm problem, severe heart failure needing special intravenous treatment, or severe liver problems.
  • If you have diabetes, this medicine can hide the signs of low blood sugar and may require changes to your diabetes medication.

  • If you wear contact lenses, be aware that this medicine can reduce tear production.
  • Inform your doctor beforehand if you are scheduled for surgery that requires anesthesia.
  • This medicine can worsen allergic reactions or make adrenaline less effective if you have a severe allergic reaction.
  • If you have psoriasis, this medicine can make your skin symptoms worse.
  • Tell your doctor if you have problems with your heart, kidneys, thyroid gland, or blood circulation.
  • If you have untreated chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), this medicine might worsen your breathing problems.
  • Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice, and do not drink too much alcohol, as these can affect how this medicine works.
  • This medicine is not recommended during pregnancy and should not be used if you are breastfeeding.
  • This medicine may reduce your ability to drive or operate machinery, so be careful.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly, as it may cause chest pain. Your doctor will tell you how to stop treatment safely if needed.
  • This medicine is not suitable for children and adolescents under 18 years of age.

Category A
