How to Use

Dosage

For adults, the usual starting dose is 5 mg or 7.5 mg of zopiclone before going to bed. Elderly or those with liver, kidney, or breathing problems should start with 3.75 mg, which can be increased to 5 mg or 7.5 mg if needed.

Method

Take Zopinox right before you go to bed. Do not take the tablets lying down, as this might delay the medicine from working. Make sure you can sleep for 7-8 hours without interruption. Swallow the tablet with a liquid, such as a glass of water.

Important

Do not take more than 7.5 mg Zopinox in one day. The treatment should be as short as possible, usually from a few days to two weeks, and should not exceed four weeks.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • bitter taste in the mouth
  • dry mouth
  • feeling sleepy
RARE
  • anxiety, restlessness, irritability, aggression, or feeling angry
  • nightmares, false beliefs (delusions), or seeing/hearing/feeling things that are not there (hallucinations)
  • nausea, stomach pain, digestive problems, or vomiting
  • headache, dizziness, confusion, trouble concentrating, or temporary memory loss
  • feeling tired or having difficulty getting up in the morning
  • shortness of breath or shallow breathing
  • allergic skin reactions like rash, itching, or hives. In rare severe cases, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue, difficulty swallowing, or trouble breathing (seek immediate medical help).
  • falls (especially in older adults)
  • changes in sexual desire
  • muscle weakness
  • sleepwalking or other unusual behaviors during sleep
  • dependence or withdrawal symptoms
  • tingling or numbness in the limbs
  • double vision
  • speech problems or difficulty coordinating movements
  • changes in liver enzymes seen in blood tests

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Zopinox if you are allergic to zopiclone or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use Zopinox if you have severe muscle weakness (myasthenia gravis), serious breathing problems, severe sleep apnea (breathing stops during sleep), or severe liver failure.
  • Stop taking Zopinox and talk to your doctor right away if you experience sleepwalking or other unusual behaviors (like driving, eating, or making calls) while not fully awake, or if you have suicidal thoughts.
  • Do not drink alcohol or use other sedative medicines while taking Zopinox, as this can increase the risk of side effects, including unusual behavior.
  • Zopinox is not recommended during pregnancy or if you are breastfeeding.

  • Do not drive or operate machinery until you are sure the medicine does not affect your ability to do so safely.
  • Do not use Zopinox for longer than four weeks, including the time you spend gradually reducing the dose.
  • Zopinox should not be used by children or young people under 18 years of age.
