How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose for adults is one 5 mg or 7.5 mg tablet before bedtime, but your doctor may prescribe a lower starting dose of 3.75 mg in special cases.

Method

Take the tablet just before bedtime, swallowed whole with water, ensuring you can sleep for 7-8 hours continuously.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 7.5 mg.

  • Impaired sense of reality (psychosis)
  • Difficulty concentrating, speech problems
  • Difficulty coordinating movements, numbness or tingling in parts of the body
  • Double vision
  • Digestive issues, vomiting
  • Muscle weakness
  • Swelling of face, tongue or throat, difficulty swallowing (angioedema)
  • Severe allergic reaction (itchy rash, swelling of mouth, wheezing)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to zopiclone or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver disease, severe breathing problems, sleep apnea, or myasthenia gravis (a severe muscle weakness condition).
  • Do not take if you have experienced sleepwalking or other unusual behavior (like sleep-driving or eating in your sleep) after taking zopiclone when not fully awake.
  • Avoid alcohol and grapefruit during treatment, as they can enhance the medicine's effects.
  • Do not drive or operate machinery until you are sure the medicine does not affect your ability to drive or concentrate.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Sedative. For short-term use only. Increases the risk of drug addiction, cognitive disorder and traffic accidents. Increases risk of falls. Paradoxically, may increase anxiety, restlessness and aggression. (updated 12.2.2024)
