How to Use
Dosage
The usual starting dose for adults is one 5 mg or 7.5 mg tablet before going to bed. For some patients, like the elderly or those with kidney or liver problems, a lower starting dose of 3.75 mg may be given.
Method
Take the tablet whole with water just before going to bed. Make sure you can get 7-8 hours of uninterrupted sleep.
Important
The maximum daily dose is 7.5 mg.

- •Muscle weakness
Important Warnings
- Do not take if you are allergic to this medicine or have severe liver disease, sleep apnea, myasthenia gravis, or severe breathing difficulties.
- Do not take if you have previously sleepwalked or had other unusual behavior after taking this medicine while not fully awake.
- Avoid alcohol and grapefruit juice while taking this medicine, as they can increase its effects.
- Do not drive or operate machinery until you are sure the medicine no longer affects your abilities.
- This medicine is not recommended for children or adolescents under 18 years of age.

- This medicine can cause dependence if used for a long time or at high doses.
- Do not stop taking the medicine suddenly, as it can cause withdrawal symptoms and a return of sleep problems.
- The medicine can cause temporary memory loss or unusual reactions, such as restlessness, aggression, or hallucinations.
- The medicine can increase the risk of falls, especially in elderly people at night.
- This medicine does not treat depression and may even worsen depression or suicidal thoughts. Talk to your doctor if you have depression.
- If you take too much, contact a doctor or Poison Information Centre immediately. Overdosing can be life-threatening, especially with alcohol or other sedatives.
