Zomig Rapimelt

Zomig Rapimelt contains zolmitriptan and is used to treat migraine headaches in adults by reducing the dilation of blood vessels in the head, which helps relieve pain and other migraine symptoms like nausea.

How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is one tablet (either 2.5 mg or 5 mg).

Method

Open the blister pack, place the tablet on your tongue where it dissolves and is swallowed with saliva. No water is needed. Take the medication as soon as a migraine attack starts.

Important

Do not take more than two tablets per day. The maximum daily dose is 5 mg if prescribed 2.5 mg tablets, and 10 mg if prescribed 5 mg tablets.

Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • Allergic/hypersensitivity reactions, including bumpy rash (hives) and swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue, and throat, with difficulty swallowing or breathing.
  • Angina pectoris (chest pain, often with exertion), heart attack or spasm of heart blood vessels. You may feel chest pain or shortness of breath.
  • Spasm of intestinal blood vessels, which can damage the intestine. You may have stomach pain or bloody diarrhea.
  • Very fast heartbeat.
  • Slight increase in blood pressure.
  • Increased or more frequent urination.
COMMON
  • Abnormal or disturbed sensations, such as tingling in fingers and toes or increased sensitivity of the skin to touch.
  • Drowsiness, dizziness, or feeling warm.
  • Headache.
  • Irregular heartbeat.
  • Nausea, vomiting.
  • Stomach pain.
  • Dry mouth.
  • Muscle weakness or muscle pain.
  • Weakness.
  • Feeling of heaviness, tightness, pain, or pressure in the throat, neck, arms, legs, or chest.
  • Difficulty swallowing.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to zolmitriptan or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have high blood pressure.
  • Do not use if you have or have ever had heart problems, including heart attack, angina, Prinzmetal's angina, or heart-related symptoms such as shortness of breath or chest tightness.
  • Do not use if you have had a stroke or mini-stroke (TIA).
  • Do not use if you have severe kidney problems.

  • Do not use if you are simultaneously taking other migraine medications (e.g., ergotamine or its derivatives) or other triptan medications.
  • Zomig Rapimelt is not recommended for individuals under 18 or over 65 years of age.
  • Overuse of Zomig Rapimelt can lead to daily headaches or worsen migraine headaches.
