How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is one tablet (either 2.5 mg or 5 mg).

Method

Open the blister pack as shown, do not push the tablet through. Place the tablet on your tongue where it will dissolve and be swallowed with saliva. You do not need water to swallow the tablet.

Important

Do not take more than two tablets in 24 hours. The maximum daily dose is 5 mg if you are prescribed 2.5 mg tablets, or 10 mg if you are prescribed 5 mg tablets.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Abnormal sensations, such as tingling in fingers and toes or increased sensitivity to touch
  • Drowsiness, dizziness, or feeling warm
  • Headache
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Nausea, vomiting, or stomach pain
  • Dry mouth
  • Muscle weakness or pain
  • Weakness or lack of strength
  • Feeling of heaviness, tightness, pain, or pressure in the throat, neck, arms, legs, or chest
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Very fast heart rate
  • Slight increase in blood pressure
  • Increased or frequent urination
RARE
  • Allergic reactions, including hives, swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue, or throat, and difficulty breathing or swallowing. Seek immediate medical attention.
  • Severe chest pain (angina), heart attack, or spasms in the heart's blood vessels, which may feel like chest pain or shortness of breath. Seek immediate medical attention.
  • Spasms in the blood vessels of the intestine, which can cause stomach pain or bloody diarrhea. Seek immediate medical attention.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Zomig Rapimelt if you are allergic to zolmitriptan or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have high blood pressure, heart problems (like a heart attack or angina), or have had a stroke or mini-stroke (TIA).
  • Do not use if you have severe kidney problems or are currently taking other specific migraine medications (like ergotamine or other triptans).
  • Taking too much Zomig Rapimelt can cause daily headaches or make your migraines worse.
  • This medicine is not recommended for people under 18 or over 65 years of age.

  • Your reaction time might be slower during a migraine attack, so be careful when driving or using machines.
  • If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, tell your doctor before taking this medicine. Do not breastfeed for 24 hours after taking Zomig Rapimelt.
