How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is one tablet (either 2.5 mg or 5 mg).

Method

Take Zomig with water as soon as a migraine attack starts, or anytime during an attack.

Important

Do not take more than 2 tablets per day. The maximum daily dose is 5 mg if your prescribed tablet is 2.5 mg, and 10 mg if your prescribed tablet is 5 mg.

Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • Severe allergic reactions, including hives, swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue, and throat, or trouble swallowing and breathing. Stop taking Zomig and see a doctor right away if this happens.
  • Chest pain (angina), heart attack, or narrowing of blood vessels in the heart. You might feel chest pain or shortness of breath. Stop taking Zomig and see a doctor right away if this happens.
  • Spasm of blood vessels in the gut, which can harm the intestines. You might have stomach pain or bloody diarrhea. Stop taking Zomig and see a doctor right away if this happens.
COMMON
  • Unusual feelings, like tingling in fingers and toes or increased skin sensitivity.
  • Drowsiness, dizziness, or feeling warm.
  • Irregular heartbeat.
  • Nausea (feeling sick), vomiting.
  • Stomach pain.
  • Dry mouth.
  • Muscle weakness or pain.
  • Weakness.
  • Feeling of heaviness, tightness, pain, or pressure in the throat, neck, arms, legs, or chest.
  • Difficulty swallowing.
RARE
  • Very fast heart rate.
  • Slight increase in blood pressure.
  • Increased urine output or more frequent urination.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to zolmitriptan or any other ingredients in Zomig.
  • Do not use if you have high blood pressure.
  • Do not use if you have or have had heart problems, including a heart attack, angina, or symptoms like shortness of breath or chest tightness.
  • Do not use if you have had a stroke or a mini-stroke (TIA).
  • Do not use if you have severe kidney problems.

  • Do not use if you are taking other migraine medicines like ergotamine or other triptans.
  • Using too much Zomig can cause daily headaches or make your migraines worse. Talk to your doctor if this happens.
  • Do not breastfeed for 24 hours after taking Zomig.
