How to Use

Dosage

For adults (over 18) with heartburn and reflux, take 15-30 mg (one or two 15 mg capsules) once a day as needed.

Method

Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water, at least 30 minutes before food. Do not crush or chew. For once-daily use, take in the morning. For twice-daily use, take the first dose in the morning and the second in the evening.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 30 mg, and treatment should not exceed two weeks.

  • Skin reactions like burning or tingling sensation under the skin, bruising, redness, and excessive sweating
  • Photosensitivity
  • Hair loss
  • Tingling sensation (paresthesia), tremor
  • Anemia (paleness)
  • Kidney inflammation (tubulointerstitial nephritis), with possible symptoms like changes in urine output and blood in urine
  • Liver inflammation (may show as yellowing of skin or eyes)
  • Breast enlargement in men, impotence
  • Yeast infection (fungal infection of the esophageal lining)
  • Mouth inflammation (stomatitis)
  • Colon inflammation (colitis)
  • Increased laboratory values, e.g., cholesterol and triglyceride levels
  • Low sodium levels in blood, with symptoms like nausea and vomiting, headache, drowsiness, fatigue, confusion, muscle weakness or cramps, irritability, seizures, and coma.
  • Lupus (skin symptoms or butterfly rash)
  • Rash, possibly with joint pain
  • Visual hallucinations

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Zolt if you are allergic to lansoprazole or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have severe liver disease, as your dose may need to be adjusted.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you get diarrhea during Zolt treatment, as it has been linked to an increased risk of inflammatory diarrhea.
  • Long-term use (over a year) of Zolt may slightly increase the risk of hip, wrist, or spine fractures. Tell your doctor if you have osteoporosis or are at risk of developing it.
  • Long-term use of Zolt can affect vitamin B12 absorption. Contact your doctor if you experience extreme fatigue, tingling, sore tongue, mouth sores, muscle weakness, vision problems, memory issues, confusion, or depression.

  • If you develop a rash, especially on sun-exposed skin, tell your doctor as soon as possible, as Zolt treatment may need to be stopped. Also, mention any other symptoms like joint pain.
  • During Zolt treatment, kidney inflammation can occur. Symptoms include reduced urine output, blood in urine, fever, rash, and stiff joints. Report these symptoms to your doctor.
  • Zolt should not be given to children.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. For short-term use only. Consider the numerous potential interactions, especially with clopidogrel and (es)citalopram. Avoid long-term use. Long-term use carries an increased risk of adverse effects. Risk of hypomagnesemia in prolonged use. (updated 10.11.2025)
