How to Use

Dosage

One implant is given every three months.

Method

A doctor or nurse will place the implant under the skin of your abdomen.

Important

For women, treatment can last a maximum of six months.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Changes in sexual desire (men and women)
  • Hot flashes and heavy sweating (men and women); these effects may continue for some time after treatment ends.
  • Pain at the injection site (men and women), including risk of blood vessel damage; seek immediate medical help for severe abdominal pain, swelling, shortness of breath, dizziness, low blood pressure, or loss of consciousness.
  • Erectile dysfunction (men)
  • Decreased blood sugar level (men)
  • Tingling, prickling, or numbness (men and women)
  • Spinal cord compression (men)
  • Heart failure, heart attack (men)

  • Pituitary gland tumor (men and women); if you have such a tumor, Zoladex can cause bleeding or sudden weakness, severe headache, nausea, vision loss, and unconsciousness.

  • Withdrawal bleeding (women)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Zoladex if you are allergic to goserelin or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • This medicine can make your bones weaker. Tell your doctor if you have a condition affecting your bone strength.
  • Zoladex should not be given to children.
  • If you go to the hospital, tell the staff that you are on Zoladex treatment.
  • Do not stop using Zoladex unless your doctor tells you to.

  • Talk to your doctor if you have heart or blood vessel problems, or an irregular heartbeat, especially if you are taking medication for it. Zoladex may increase the risk of irregular heartbeat.
  • Depression, which can be severe, has been reported. Tell your doctor if you feel depressed while taking Zoladex.
  • (For men) Tell your doctor if you have had trouble urinating, lower back pain, or diabetes.
  • (For women) Use a condom or IUD for birth control during Zoladex treatment; do not use birth control pills.
  • Tell your doctor about all other medicines you are taking, especially those for heart rhythm problems, pain, or mental health, as Zoladex can interact with them.
  • Do not use Zoladex if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
