Zocor is a medicine that lowers "bad" cholesterol and fats in your blood, and increases "good" cholesterol, helping to prevent heart disease.
Your doctor will tell you the right dose, usually 10 mg, 20 mg, 40 mg, or 80 mg per day.
Take one tablet by mouth once a day, in the evening, with or without food. If you take another cholesterol medicine that binds bile acids, take Zocor at least 2 hours before or 4 hours after it.
Do not take more than 80 mg in a single day.
Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose in severe renal impairment. Possible adverse effects include muscle pain and muscular weakness. Consider potential interactions. Avoid grapefruit. (updated 17.4.2023)
