How to Use

Dosage

Take one dose once a day, exactly as your doctor tells you.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole. You can take it with or without food.

Important

Do not take more than one dose per day, unless your doctor tells you to.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Diarrhea

RARE
  • Fungal infections (like in the mouth or vagina), or other new infections
  • Severe allergic reactions (e.g., swelling of the face/throat, difficulty breathing, severe skin rash). Seek immediate medical help.
  • Dizziness, sleep problems, feeling anxious, confusion, strange feelings, or changes in taste/smell
  • Fast or irregular heartbeat, or chest pain
  • Serious stomach or bowel inflammation, constipation, or indigestion
  • Severe skin reactions, like a widespread rash with blisters or peeling skin, or sun sensitivity
  • Problems with your liver or kidneys, muscle weakness (myasthenia gravis worsening), or hearing loss

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Zithromax if you are allergic to azithromycin or similar antibiotics (macrolides or ketolides).
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems.
  • Inform your doctor if you have heart disease, an irregular heartbeat, or problems with your body's salts (like low potassium or magnesium).
  • Contact your doctor if you get severe, bloody, or long-lasting diarrhea during or after treatment.
  • Tell your doctor if you have myasthenia gravis (a muscle weakness condition).
