Zeldox is a medicine used to treat mental health conditions like schizophrenia in adults and bipolar disorder (manic or mixed episodes) in adults and children aged 10-17.

How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose for adults is 40-80 mg, taken twice a day with food. For children with bipolar disorder, the starting dose is 20 mg twice daily with food.

Method

Take the capsules whole with food, twice a day (once with a hearty breakfast and once with dinner). Do not chew, crush, or open them. Try to take your medicine at the same time each day.

Important

The maximum daily dose for adults is 160 mg. For children weighing up to 45 kg, the maximum is 80 mg per day; for children over 45 kg, it's 160 mg per day.

  • Constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, indigestion, dry mouth, increased saliva

  • Sexual problems in men

RARE
  • Involuntary or unusual movements, especially in the face or tongue
  • Fast or irregular heartbeat, dizziness when standing up (may mean abnormal heart function or low blood pressure when changing position)
  • High levels of prolactin in the blood
  • Increased appetite
  • Panic attack
  • Nervousness or depression
  • Decreased sex drive
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Difficulty controlling movements or involuntary movements
  • Restless legs
  • Squeezing feeling in the throat, nightmares
  • Seizures, involuntary eye movements, clumsiness, speech problems, numbness, tingling, difficulty concentrating, drooling
  • Heart palpitations, shortness of breath
  • Sensitivity to light, dry eyes, ringing in ears, ear pain
  • Sore throat, gas, stomach pain
  • Itchy rash, acne
  • Muscle cramps, stiff or swollen joints
  • Thirst, chest pain, unusual walking

  • Raised, red, inflamed skin patches with white scales (psoriasis)
  • Long-lasting, abnormal and painful erection

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Zeldox if you are allergic to ziprasidone or any other ingredients; signs of allergy include rash, itching, swelling of the face or lips, or trouble breathing.
  • Do not take Zeldox if you have heart problems, have had a recent heart attack, or are taking medicines that affect your heart rhythm.
  • Stop Zeldox and tell your doctor right away if you get severe skin reactions like rashes with blisters, mouth sores, skin peeling, fever, or swollen lymph nodes. These can be life-threatening.
  • Be careful as Zeldox can cause drowsiness, dizziness when standing up, and problems walking, which might lead to falls, especially if you are elderly or unwell.
  • Get medical help right away if you notice signs of blood clots, like swelling, pain, or redness in your legs, chest pain, or trouble breathing.

  • Contact your doctor immediately if you develop symptoms like fever, fast breathing, sweating, muscle stiffness, tremors, difficulty swallowing, or a lowered state of consciousness, as these could be signs of a serious condition called Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience confusion, agitation, high temperature, sweating, lack of movement coordination, or muscle twitching, as these might be symptoms of Serotonin Syndrome.
  • If you experience a fast, irregular heartbeat and fainting, these could be signs of a dangerous condition called Torsade de Pointes.
