Zanipress

Zanipress is a medicine with two active ingredients (enalapril and lercanidipine) that work together to lower high blood pressure in adults when enalapril alone isn't enough.

How to Use

Dosage

One tablet.

Method

Take one tablet by mouth once a day, preferably in the morning at least 15 minutes before breakfast. Swallow the tablet whole with water.

Important

One tablet per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Cough
  • Dizziness, headache
RARE
  • Changes in blood tests (like fewer blood cells or platelets)
  • Increased potassium in the blood
  • Feeling nervous or anxious
  • Dizziness when standing up, feeling lightheaded or fainting
  • Fast or irregular heartbeat
  • Sudden redness of face, neck or upper chest; low blood pressure
  • Stomach pain, constipation, nausea, diarrhea, dry mouth, swollen gums, salty taste in mouth
  • Increased liver enzyme levels
  • Skin redness, rash, hives, swelling of skin (angioedema)
  • Joint pain
  • Increased need to urinate, frequent urination at night
  • Feeling weak, tired, hot flushes, swollen ankles
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
  • Dry or sore throat
  • Impotence

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to enalapril, lercanidipine, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have ever had swelling of your face, lips, mouth, tongue, or throat (angioedema) after taking an ACE inhibitor, or if you have hereditary angioedema.
  • Do not take if you are taking or have recently taken sacubitril/valsartan (for heart failure).
  • Do not take if you have diabetes or kidney problems AND are taking a blood pressure medicine containing aliskiren.
  • Do not take if you are more than 3 months pregnant or planning to become pregnant (use should also be avoided in early pregnancy).

  • Do not take if you have certain serious heart conditions (e.g., obstruction to blood flow from the heart, uncontrolled heart failure, unstable angina pectoris, or a heart attack within the last month).
  • Do not take if you have severe liver or kidney problems, or are on dialysis.
  • Do not take if you are using medicines that slow down liver function (e.g., certain antifungals, antibiotics, antivirals), or cyclosporine.
  • Do not take if you consume grapefruit or grapefruit juice.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. Do not use in severe renal impairment. Significant adverse effects include ankle oedema and orthostatic hypotension. Consider potential interactions. Avoid grapefruit. (updated 17.2.2025)
