How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is 10 mg once a day, taken in the morning at least 15 minutes before breakfast.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with a little water.

Important

Your doctor may increase the dose to a maximum of 20 mg per day.

  • Sudden flushing of the face, neck, or upper chest

  • Muscle pain
  • Increased or frequent urination
  • Weakness
  • Tiredness
  • Chest pain (angina pectoris), a crushing feeling in the chest
  • Allergic reactions such as hives
  • Fainting
  • Sleepiness
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Zanidip if you are allergic to lerkanidipine hydrochloride or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Avoid if you have certain heart problems like narrowing of the heart valve, untreated heart failure, unstable chest pain (angina pectoris), or if you had a heart attack in the last month.
  • Do not use if you have severe liver problems or severe kidney problems, or if you are on dialysis.
  • Do not use with certain medications that affect liver enzymes, such as antifungal medicines (e.g., ketoconazole), macrolide antibiotics (e.g., erythromycin), or antiviral medicines (e.g., ritonavir).
  • Do not use if you are taking ciclosporin (a medicine used after organ transplants).

  • Avoid grapefruit or grapefruit juice, as it can make Zanidip work too strongly.
  • Do not drink alcohol during Zanidip treatment, as it can increase the medicine's effects.
  • Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
  • If you feel dizzy, weak, or sleepy, do not drive or use machines.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. Do not use in severe renal impairment. Significant adverse effects include ankle oedema and orthostatic hypotension. Consider potential interactions. Avoid grapefruit. (updated 17.2.2025)
