Xorox eye ointment contains aciclovir, an antiviral medicine used to treat eye infections caused by the Herpes simplex virus by destroying viruses or preventing their growth on the eye surface.

How to Use

Dosage

Apply a 1 cm strip of ointment into the lower eyelid pocket 5 times a day (every 4 hours), typically at 7:00, 11:00, 15:00, 19:00, and 23:00.

Method

Pull down the lower eyelid and place the ointment into the conjunctival sac between the eyelid and the eye. Close your eyelids and roll your eye to spread the ointment better.

Important

Do not exceed 5 applications per day. Continue treatment for at least 3 days after the corneal inflammation has healed.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Burning or irritation in the eye
  • Sensitivity to light (photophobia)
  • Feeling like there is something in your eye (superficial punctate keratopathy)
RARE
  • Swollen or watery eyes (conjunctivitis)
  • Swollen, red, irritated, itchy eyelids (blepharitis)
  • Skin rash, itching, or hives
  • Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or other body parts
  • Shortness of breath, wheezing, or difficulty breathing
  • Unexplained fever or dizziness, especially when standing up

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Xorox if you are allergic to aciclovir, valaciclovir, or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Use Xorox eye ointment only in your eye(s).
  • Do not wear contact lenses during treatment with Xorox.
  • If you experience severe allergic reactions like swelling of the face or difficulty breathing, stop using Xorox and seek immediate medical help.
  • This ointment may temporarily affect your vision, so be careful when driving or operating machinery.
