How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide the right dose for you, which varies depending on the condition being treated. For adults, a typical dose might be up to 100 units per treatment session.

Method

XEOMIN is given as an injection into a muscle or into a salivary gland. Only a doctor or nurse should give you this medicine.

Important

The maximum dose given in one treatment session is usually 500 units, but your doctor will determine what is safe and effective for you. Treatment sessions are typically not more frequent than every 10-16 weeks depending on the condition.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use XEOMIN if you are allergic to botulinum toxin type A or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have a disease that weakens your muscles, such as myasthenia gravis.
  • Do not use XEOMIN if you have an infection or inflammation at the planned injection site.
  • XEOMIN can sometimes spread from the injection site, causing muscle weakness, trouble swallowing, or breathing problems. If you experience these symptoms, contact your doctor immediately.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience difficulty breathing, swelling of your face/throat, hives, or dizziness, as these could be signs of a serious allergic reaction.

  • If the dose is too high or given too often, your body might produce antibodies that can make the medicine less effective in the future.
