How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor decides your dose based on your body weight and how well the treatment works for you. An initial dose can be 1–2.5 ml per kilogram of your body weight, split over several days. After this, you usually receive 1.5–5 ml per kilogram of your body weight per month.

Method

Xembify is given as a slow infusion under the skin (subcutaneously) using a pump or an injector.

Important

Your doctor will determine your highest daily dose based on your individual needs and body weight.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Local reactions at the infusion site (swelling, pain, redness, hardening, warmth, itching, bruising, rash).
  • Headache.
  • Joint pain.
  • Back pain.
  • Runny nose (nasal discharge, sneezing, and stuffy nose).
  • Diarrhea.
  • Nausea.
  • Fever.
  • Decreased blood immunoglobulin G levels.
  • Itching.
  • Rash (papule).
RARE
  • Sudden drop in blood pressure.
  • Anaphylactic shock (severe allergic reaction).
  • Dizziness or faintness.
  • Rash and itching, swelling of the mouth or throat, difficulty breathing, wheezing.
  • Abnormal heart rhythm, chest pain, blue lips, fingers, and toes.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Xembify if you are allergic to human immunoglobulin or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Avoid injecting Xembify directly into a blood vessel or muscle.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had a severe allergic reaction to human immunoglobulin or if you have IgA antibodies in your blood, as this may increase your risk of an allergic reaction.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you have a heart condition, a risk of blood clots, or if you experience shortness of breath, chest pain, arm or leg pain/swelling, or one-sided weakness/numbness.
  • If you experience severe headache, stiff neck, fever, or extreme sensitivity to light after Xembify infusion, contact your doctor as it could be meningitis.

  • Tell your doctor if you have impaired kidney function, as Xembify can cause kidney problems.
  • Always inform your doctor about your Xembify treatment before any blood tests, as it may affect the results.
