How to Use

Dosage

Take one Xatral CR tablet once a day.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with water after a meal. Do not chew, crush, or break it.

Important

Do not take more than one tablet per day.

  • Digestive issues like nausea, stomach pain, and vomiting

  • Low blood pressure when standing up
  • Flushing (redness of skin)
  • Heart palpitations
  • Chest pain
  • Vertigo (spinning sensation)

  • Swelling
  • Diarrhea
  • Rash
  • Itching
  • Runny nose
  • Hives
  • Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, and throat (angioedema)
  • Chest pain during exercise in patients with coronary artery disease
  • Long-lasting painful erection

Important Warnings

  • Talk to your doctor if you have severe kidney problems.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have heart failure.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have chest pain (angina pectoris).
  • Talk to your doctor if you have a condition called long QT syndrome (an abnormal heart rhythm).
  • If you feel dizzy, weak, or sweaty a few hours after taking the medicine, especially if you also take blood pressure or chest pain medicine, lie down until you feel better and tell your doctor.

  • If you have a painful erection that lasts more than 4 hours, contact a doctor immediately. If not treated, this can cause lasting problems.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are taking other alpha-blockers (like doxazosin, tamsulosin) or certain antiviral medicines (like ritonavir, lopinavir, ombitasvir/paritaprevir, nirmatrelvir).
  • Tell your doctor if you are having surgery, especially eye surgery (for cataracts), as Xatral CR can affect blood pressure and cause problems during eye surgery.
  • This medicine contains hydrogenated castor oil, which may cause stomach upset and diarrhea.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Significant adverse effects include orthostatic hypotension and dizziness. Increases risk of falls. Consider potential interactions especially with antihypertensives. Avoid grapefruit. (updated 25.11.2024)
