How to Use

Dosage

Treatment usually starts with 0.5 mg. The normal dose is 0.5–4 mg per day, taken 1–2 times daily.

Method

Swallow the prolonged-release tablet whole. Do not chew, crush, or divide it. If you take the dose once a day, it is recommended to take it in the morning.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 4 mg. Treatment should not last longer than 2–4 weeks.

Important Warnings

  • If you are allergic to alprazolam, benzodiazepines, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • If you have myasthenia gravis (a disease causing severe muscle weakness).
  • If you have severe breathing problems.
  • If you have severe sleep apnea (breathing stops during sleep).
  • If you have severe liver problems.

  • If your general health is poor, talk to your doctor before taking this medicine.
  • If you are elderly, because benzodiazepines can cause excessive drowsiness, muscle weakness, and falls in older patients.
  • Do not use Xanor Depot at the same time as opioids (strong painkillers, cough medicines, or addiction treatment medicines), as this can cause severe drowsiness, breathing difficulties, and coma.
  • Do not drink alcohol while taking Xanor Depot, as alcohol can increase the medicine's sedative effects.
  • Xanor Depot is not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to have a baby, talk to your doctor before using this medicine. It is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
  • This medicine can cause tiredness, memory problems, or poor concentration, which may affect your ability to drive or use machines. Be careful.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Sedative. A long-acting. Increases the risk of drug addiction, cognitive disorder and traffic accidents. Increases risk of falls. Paradoxically, may increase anxiety, restlessness and aggression. (updated 15.1.2024)
