How to Use

Dosage

For adults, a single dose of 1500 mg, or two doses: 1000 mg on day 1 and 500 mg on day 8. For children, the dose is based on their weight and age.

Method

This medicine is given directly into a vein as a drip over 30 minutes.

Important

The maximum single dose is 1500 mg.

  • Severe allergic reaction (sudden swelling of lips, face, throat, or tongue; severe rash; itching; tight throat; drop in blood pressure; difficulty swallowing or breathing)
  • Inflammation of the large intestine (severe stomach pain, watery diarrhea with blood or mucus)
  • Hearing changes
  • Breathing difficulties (bronchospasm)
  • Vaginal, fungal, or oral yeast infections
  • Urinary tract infection
  • Changes in blood cells (e.g., low red blood cells, changes in white blood cells, high platelets)
  • Loss of appetite
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Dizziness
  • Changes in taste
  • Inflammation and swelling of surface veins, skin redness
  • Cough
  • Stomach pain, indigestion, constipation
  • Abnormal liver function test results
  • Increased levels of an enzyme in your body (alkaline phosphatase)
  • Itching, hives
  • Genital itching (in women)
  • Pain, redness, or swelling at the injection site
  • Feeling hot
  • Increased levels of an enzyme in your blood (gamma-glutamyltransferase)
  • Rash
  • Vomiting

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Walrie if you are allergic to dalbavancin or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have kidney problems, as your dose may need to be adjusted.
  • Tell your doctor immediately if you get diarrhea during or after treatment, especially if it's severe, watery, or has blood. Do not take anti-diarrhea medicine without talking to your doctor.
  • Inform your doctor if you are allergic to other antibiotics like vancomycin or teicoplanin.
  • During the infusion, you might experience redness, hives, itching, or rash on your upper body. Tell your nurse or doctor if this happens, as the infusion might need to be stopped or slowed down.

  • Using antibiotics can sometimes lead to new infections. If you notice new or different infections, tell your doctor.
  • Walrie is not recommended during pregnancy unless absolutely necessary. Do not breastfeed while receiving this medicine.
  • This medicine can cause dizziness. Be careful when driving or using machines after you receive Walrie.
  • Walrie should not be given to children under 3 months of age.
