How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide your dose. For inflammation, it's usually 1–4 mg daily for the first week, then 1–2 mg daily. For COVID-19, it's 6 mg once daily for up to 10 days, for adults and adolescents 12 years and older.

Method

Take this medicine exactly as instructed by your doctor or pharmacist. Swallow the tablet whole; the score line is only for easier swallowing, not for dividing the dose.

Important

For inflammation, initially up to 4 mg daily, then up to 2 mg daily. For COVID-19, up to 6 mg daily.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Weaker resistance to infections
  • Facial swelling and skin redness (Cushing's syndrome)
  • Slower growth in children
  • Acne and increased hair growth in women
  • Muscle weakness
  • Weakening of bones (osteoporosis)
  • Reduced ability to handle sugar, diabetes may worsen
  • Low nitrogen levels in the blood
RARE
  • Allergic reactions, such as swelling, rash, and eczema
  • Body swelling due to salt imbalance
  • Increased appetite and weight gain
  • High blood pressure, blood clots, and heart failure
  • Digestive issues, such as nausea and stomach ulcers
  • Thin, fragile skin and poor wound healing
  • Mood swings, sleep difficulties, depression, severe mental disorders (psychosis)
  • Eye effects, such as increased eye pressure, glaucoma, protruding eyes, and cataracts
  • Tendon rupture
  • Increased pressure inside the skull
  • Tissue breakdown
  • Pancreatitis
  • Irregular or missed periods
  • Cramps
  • Headache, dizziness, general discomfort
  • Bone fractures
  • Muscle disease in arms and legs
  • Blood vessel blockage
  • Body swelling due to fluid retention

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Waladex if you are allergic to dexamethasone or if you have a fungal infection that affects your whole body.
  • Tell your doctor if you have diabetes, tuberculosis, bone thinning (osteoporosis), mental health problems, stomach ulcers, high blood pressure, heart problems, kidney disease, eye disease, or an infection.
  • Tell the person giving you a vaccine that you are taking Waladex tablets.
  • Contact your doctor if you have a fever or feel stressed, as your dose may need to be changed.
  • Waladex should not be given in cases of head injury or stroke.

  • Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly. Your doctor will tell you how to gradually reduce the dose. Stopping suddenly can cause symptoms like weakness and confusion.
  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor for advice.
  • Waladex may affect the growth of children.
