How to Use

Dosage

For adults under 65, the usual dose is 10 mg once daily, adjusted by your doctor. For those 65 and older, the starting dose is 5 mg once daily.

Method

Take one tablet with a glass of water, with or without food.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 20 mg.

  • Hallucinations (seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there)
  • Dilated pupils (which may increase the risk of glaucoma)
  • Low blood sodium (symptoms can include dizziness, weakness, confusion, sleepiness, or severe tiredness, or feeling unwell or sick; more serious symptoms are fainting, seizures, or falls)
  • Serotonin syndrome
  • Allergic reactions (which can be severe and cause swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, difficulty breathing or swallowing, and/or a sudden drop in blood pressure that makes you feel dizzy or faint)
  • Hives
  • Excessive or unexplained bleeding (including bruises, nosebleeds, and bleeding from the stomach, intestines, or vagina)
  • Rash
  • Sleep disturbances (insomnia)
  • Agitation and aggression
  • Headache
  • Increased levels of a hormone called prolactin in the blood
  • Restlessness (akathisia)
  • Teeth grinding (bruxism)
  • Inability to open mouth (trismus)
  • Restless legs syndrome (an irresistible urge to move the legs to stop painful or uncomfortable sensations, often occurring at night)
  • Abnormal milk secretion from the breast (galactorrhea)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Vortioxetine Krka if you are allergic to vortioxetine or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take Vortioxetine Krka if you are taking other antidepressants called non-selective monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or selective MAO-A inhibitors. Ask your doctor if you are unsure.
  • Tell your doctor if you are taking other serotonergic medicines (like strong pain relievers or migraine medicines ending in '-triptan'). Taking them together can increase the risk of serotonin syndrome, which can cause hallucinations, involuntary twitching, fast heart rate, and fever.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had seizures or if you have epilepsy. Treatment will be stopped if you get seizures or if they get worse.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had mania.

  • Tell your doctor if you easily bleed or bruise, or if you are pregnant.
  • Tell your doctor if you have low sodium levels in your blood.
  • Tell your doctor if you are 65 years old or older.
  • Tell your doctor if you have severe kidney disease, liver disease, or liver cirrhosis.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had high eye pressure or glaucoma. Contact your doctor if you start to feel eye pain and blurred vision during treatment.
  • If you are being treated with an antidepressant like vortioxetine and experience feelings of aggression, agitation, anger, or irritability, contact your doctor.
  • If you have thoughts of harming yourself or suicide, contact a doctor or go to a hospital immediately.
  • Vortioxetine Krka should not be used by children or adolescents under 18 years of age.
  • It is not recommended to use this medicine with alcohol.
  • Vortioxetine Krka should not be used during pregnancy unless your doctor says it is absolutely necessary.
  • Vortioxetine Krka should not be used during breastfeeding.
