How to Use

Dosage

For adults under 65, the usual dose is 10 mg once a day. Your doctor may change your dose between 5 mg and 20 mg daily. For adults 65 and older, the starting dose is 5 mg once a day.

Method

Take the tablet with a glass of water. You can take it with or without food.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 20 mg.

  • Abnormal dreams
  • Increased sweating

RARE
  • Flushing
  • Night sweats
  • Blurred vision
  • Involuntary tremor
  • Hallucinations (seeing, hearing, or feeling things that aren't there)
  • Dilated pupils (mydriasis), which may increase the risk of glaucoma
  • Low sodium levels in the blood
  • Serotonin syndrome
  • Allergic reactions (swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat, difficulty breathing or swallowing, and/or sudden drop in blood pressure)
  • Hives
  • Excessive or unexplained bleeding (including bruises, nosebleeds, bleeding from stomach/intestines or vagina)
  • Rash
  • Sleep disturbances (insomnia)
  • Agitation and aggression
  • Headache
  • Increased levels of a hormone called prolactin in the blood
  • Constant urge to move (akathisia)
  • Teeth grinding (bruxism)
  • Inability to open mouth (lockjaw/trismus)
  • Restless legs syndrome (compelling urge to move legs to stop painful or strange sensations, often at night)
  • Abnormal milk secretion from the breast (galactorrhea)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Vortioxetine Krka if you are allergic to vortioxetine or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take Vortioxetine Krka if you are taking other antidepressants called non-selective monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or selective MAO-A inhibitors.
  • Talk to your doctor if you are taking other medicines that can increase the risk of serotonin syndrome, such as pain medicines (e.g., tramadol) or migraine medicines (e.g., sumatriptan). Symptoms may include hallucinations, twitching, fast heartbeat, high blood pressure, fever, nausea, and diarrhea.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have had seizures or have epilepsy.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have had mania.

  • Talk to your doctor if you bruise or bleed easily, or if you are pregnant.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have low sodium levels in your blood.
  • Talk to your doctor if you are 65 years old or older.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have severe kidney or liver disease.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have or have had high eye pressure or glaucoma. If you experience eye pain or blurred vision during treatment, contact your doctor.
  • When treated with antidepressants like vortioxetine, you may experience feelings of aggression, agitation, anger, and irritability. If this happens, contact your doctor.
  • If you have thoughts of harming yourself or committing suicide, contact your doctor immediately or go to a hospital.
  • Vortioxetine Krka should not be used in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
