How to Use

Dosage

For adults under 65, the typical dose is 10 mg once daily, but your doctor may change the dose based on your response.

Method

Take one tablet with a glass of water. It can be taken with or without food.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 20 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea, constipation, vomiting
  • Dizziness
  • Itching all over the body
  • Unusual dreams
  • Increased sweating
  • Indigestion
RARE
  • Redness of the skin
  • Night sweats
  • Blurred vision
  • Involuntary shaking (tremor)
  • Dilated pupils (mydriasis), which may increase the risk of glaucoma
  • Low salt levels in the blood, causing dizziness, weakness, confusion, or severe tiredness, and in serious cases, fainting or seizures.
  • Serotonin syndrome (a serious condition that can cause symptoms like seeing things that aren't there, fast heartbeat, or fever)
  • Severe allergic reactions, such as swelling of the face or throat, trouble breathing, or sudden low blood pressure.
  • Hives
  • Easy bruising or unexplained bleeding, including nosebleeds or bleeding from the stomach or vagina.
  • Rash
  • Trouble sleeping, feeling restless and needing to move (akathisia), teeth grinding, difficulty opening your mouth, or restless legs.
  • Agitation and aggression
  • Headache
  • Higher levels of a hormone called prolactin in your blood, or abnormal breast milk secretion.
  • Increased risk of bone fractures
  • Increased risk of sexual problems

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to vortioxetine or any other ingredients.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are currently taking other medicines for depression called MAOIs.
  • Tell your doctor if you take other medicines that affect serotonin, as this can lead to a serious condition called serotonin syndrome with symptoms like seeing things that aren't there, fast heartbeat, or fever.
  • Be careful if you have a history of seizures or epilepsy; talk to your doctor.
  • Inform your doctor if you have had mania before.

  • Be careful if you have low sodium levels in your blood.
  • Discuss with your doctor if you have severe kidney or liver disease.
  • Inform your doctor if you have or have had high eye pressure or glaucoma.
  • Contact your doctor if you experience aggression, agitation, anger, or irritability while taking this medicine.
  • If you have thoughts of self-harm or suicide, contact your doctor or go to the nearest hospital immediately.
  • Do not use this medicine during pregnancy unless absolutely necessary. Do not use during breastfeeding.
  • Be careful when driving or operating machinery, especially at the start of treatment or when your dose changes, as dizziness has been reported.
