How to Use

Dosage

For adults, a typical starting dose is 400 mg twice a day for the first 24 hours, followed by 200 mg twice a day. Your doctor will adjust your dose based on your weight and infection.

Method

Take the tablet whole with water at least one hour before or one hour after a meal.

Important

The doctor might increase your daily dose up to 600 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Vision changes (blurry vision, light sensitivity, color changes)
  • Rash, fever
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain
  • Headache, swelling of arms and legs
RARE
  • Serious skin rashes and blisters
  • Problems with liver or kidneys
  • Changes in heart rhythm
  • Nerve damage (numbness, pain), balance problems, confusion

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to voriconazole or any other ingredients in the medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver problems, heart muscle disease, irregular or slow heartbeat, or an abnormal ECG.
  • Avoid sunlight and protect your skin with sunscreen, as this medicine increases sensitivity to sun and long-term use may increase the risk of skin cancer.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant, unless your doctor says so. Women who can get pregnant must use effective birth control.
  • This medicine may cause blurry vision or light sensitivity. Do not drive or operate machinery if you experience these symptoms.
