How to Use

Dosage

Usually 100–150 mg daily at the start of treatment; for mild symptoms and long-term treatment, usually 75–100 mg daily.

Method

Insert the suppository into the rectum after a bowel movement. Moisten the suppository with cold water and insert it deeply with your finger, lying on your side with knees slightly bent.

Important

Do not exceed 150 mg per day. One 100 mg suppository per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache, dizziness
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
  • Stomach pain, indigestion, gas
  • Loss of appetite
  • Changes in liver function (seen in blood tests)
  • Skin rash
  • Rectal irritation
RARE
  • Heart attack, heart failure, palpitations, chest pain
  • Drowsiness, confusion, depression, sleep problems, nightmares, irritability, anxiety
  • Tingling or numbness in hands/feet, trembling, convulsions
  • Blurred or double vision, ringing in the ears, taste changes, hearing problems
  • Constipation, mouth sores, swollen tongue, severe stomach cramps, bloody or black stools, rectal bleeding
  • Severe skin reactions like widespread rash, blisters, peeling skin, itching, redness, hair loss, increased sensitivity to sunlight
  • Unusual bleeding or bruising (e.g. nosebleeds, easy bruising), low red or white blood cell count
  • Swelling (especially in face, feet, or abdomen), changes in urination, blood in urine, severe kidney problems
  • Yellow skin or eyes (jaundice), nausea, loss of appetite, dark urine, liver damage (hepatitis, liver failure)
  • Flu-like symptoms, fatigue, muscle pain, high fever, frequent infections, persistent sore throat

Important Warnings

  • If you have heart disease, a stroke, or have had a heart attack.
  • If you have had circulation problems.
  • If you are allergic to diclofenac or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • If you have had a severe allergic reaction to pain or inflammation medicine before.
  • If you have or have had recurring stomach ulcers.

  • If you have bleeding in your stomach or intestines.
  • If you have severe kidney or liver disease.
  • If you have severe heart failure.
  • If you are in the last three months of pregnancy.
  • If your rectum is sore or bleeding.
  • This medicine can hide symptoms of infection, like fever or headache, making it harder to diagnose and treat.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you get a severe skin reaction, such as a rash, blisters, or mouth sores.
  • Use this medicine at the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible time, as it may increase the risk of heart attack or stroke, especially with high doses or long-term use.
  • Not for children or adolescents under 18 years of age.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. For short-term use only. Do not use in severe renal impairment. Increases swelling, worsens renal and heart failure and causes cardiovascular events. Increases risk of bleeding, especially in the gastrointestinal tract. Consider potential interactions especially with preparations that increase risk of bleeding. (updated 16.9.2024)
