How to Use

Dosage

You will drink 3 to 4 liters of Vistaprep solution to clean your bowels. One sachet makes 1 liter of solution.

Method

Mix one sachet with 1 liter of lukewarm water to make the solution. Drink 200-300 ml (a small glass) every 10 minutes. Keep drinking until your bowel movements are clear, or you have drunk up to 4 liters. You can drink it all the evening before, or split it between the evening before and the morning of your procedure. Ask your doctor for the best schedule for you.

Important

Do not drink more than 4 liters of Vistaprep solution in one day.

Possible Side Effects

  • Nausea

  • Stomach cramps
  • Anal irritation
RARE
  • General feeling of being unwell
  • Difficulty sleeping (insomnia)
  • Irregular or fast heartbeat
  • Fluid in the lungs
  • Nervous system symptoms (e.g., confusion, seizures)
  • Hives
  • Nasal discharge or runny nose
  • Sudden skin inflammation (likely allergic)
  • Severe allergic reaction (anaphylactic shock)
  • Changes in body fluid or electrolyte balance (low calcium, potassium, or sodium)
  • Tear in the esophagus due to vomiting

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Vistaprep if you are allergic to any of its ingredients.
  • Do not take Vistaprep if you have or suspect a bowel blockage, narrowing, or perforation (a hole in the bowel).
  • Do not take Vistaprep if you have problems with stomach emptying or severe colon inflammation with toxic megacolon (a very swollen large intestine).
  • Do not take Vistaprep if you have difficulty swallowing, a weak gag reflex, or general weakness.
  • Stop taking Vistaprep and contact a doctor immediately if you vomit blood, especially if it's followed by sudden chest, neck, or stomach pain, difficulty swallowing, or breathing problems.

  • Stop taking Vistaprep and contact a doctor immediately if you develop swelling, shortness of breath, severe tiredness, dehydration (increased thirst, dry mouth, weakness), or heart problems.
  • Do not eat solid food for 2-3 hours before taking Vistaprep and until after your examination is complete.
  • If you use liquid thickeners to help you swallow safely, Vistaprep may stop them from working.
