How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you how many capsules to take, how often, and for how long, based on your body size, blood tests, and health.

Method

Swallow the capsule whole with water, preferably with a light meal. Do not take with hot drinks. Do not chew or suck the capsule. If you accidentally chew or suck it, rinse your mouth well and tell your doctor immediately.

Important

The total dose should never be more than 160 mg per week. Do not take Vinorelbine medac more than once a week.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Infections in different parts of the body
  • Stomach problems like diarrhea, constipation, belly pain, feeling sick (nausea), throwing up (vomiting)
  • Mouth sores (inflammation in the mouth)
  • Feeling tired, pale skin, and shortness of breath due to low red blood cells (anemia)
  • Increased risk of bleeding or bruising due to low platelets
  • Increased risk of infections due to low white blood cells
  • Reduced reflexes, sometimes with changes in touch sensation
  • Hair loss, usually mild
  • Feeling very tired
  • Fever
  • Feeling unwell
  • Weight loss, loss of appetite
  • Difficulty controlling muscle movements
  • Vision changes
  • Shortness of breath, cough
  • Difficulty urinating, other bladder or genital problems
  • Sleep problems
  • Headache, dizziness, changes in taste
  • Esophagus inflammation, difficulty swallowing food or liquids
  • Skin reactions
  • Chills
  • Weight gain
  • Joint pain, jaw pain, muscle pain
  • Pain in various body parts, and pain at the tumor site
  • High blood pressure
  • Liver problems (abnormal liver test results)
RARE
  • Heart failure, which can cause shortness of breath and swollen ankles, irregular heartbeat.
  • Problems with muscle coordination, which can involve an unusual way of walking, changes in speech, and unusual eye movements (ataxia).
  • Blood infections (sepsis) with symptoms like high fever and overall poor health.
  • Heart attack.
  • Bleeding in the stomach or intestines.
  • Low sodium levels in the blood, causing weakness, muscle twitching, tiredness, confusion, and unconsciousness. This can sometimes be due to too much of a certain hormone (SIADH).
  • Severe constipation with stomach pain if you haven't had a bowel movement for several days.
  • Severe dizziness or feeling unsteady when standing up, which can be a sign of a sharp drop in blood pressure.
  • Severe chest pain that is new for you, possibly due to heart problems from poor blood flow, like a heart attack (which can sometimes be deadly).
  • Breathing difficulties, dizziness, low blood pressure, full-body rash, or swelling of eyelids, face, lips, or throat, which can be signs of an allergic reaction.
  • Chest pain, shortness of breath, and fainting, which can be signs of a blood clot in the lungs (pulmonary embolism).
  • Headache, changes in mental state (leading to confusion or coma), seizures, blurred vision, and high blood pressure, which can be signs of a brain disorder (posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to vinorelbine or similar cancer medicines, or any other ingredients.
  • Do not take if you are breastfeeding.
  • Do not take if you have had stomach or bowel surgery, or have bowel problems.
  • Do not take if you have low white blood cells or platelets, or a severe infection (now or in the last two weeks).
  • Do not take if you plan to get a yellow fever vaccine or have recently received one.

  • Do not take if you need long-term oxygen therapy.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had a heart attack or severe chest pain.
  • Tell your doctor if your ability to do daily activities is greatly reduced.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had radiation therapy that included your liver.
  • Tell your doctor if you have symptoms of infection like fever, chills, or cough.
  • Avoid live vaccines (like measles, mumps, rubella) while on this medicine as they can cause serious vaccine-related illness.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver disease not related to cancer.
  • Do not take if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
  • This medicine is not recommended for children under 18 years old.
