How to Use

Dosage

The usual weekly dose is 60 mg per square meter of body surface for the first 3 doses. After the third dose, your doctor may increase it to 80 mg per square meter.

Method

Swallow capsules whole with water, preferably with a light meal. Do not take with hot drinks. Do not chew or suck the capsules.

Important

The total dose must never exceed 160 mg per week. Do not take Vinorelbine Accord more than once a week.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Infections in various parts of the body.
  • Stomach problems, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting.
  • Inflammation of the mouth (stomatitis).
  • Reduced red blood cells (anemia), causing pale skin, weakness, or shortness of breath.
  • Reduced platelets, increasing the risk of bleeding and bruising.
  • Reduced white blood cells, increasing the risk of infections.
  • Loss of some reflexes, occasional changes in touch sensation.
  • Hair loss (usually mild).
  • Fatigue.
  • Fever.
  • Malaise (feeling unwell).
  • Weight loss, loss of appetite.
  • Difficulty with muscle coordination.
  • Vision changes.
  • Shortness of breath, cough.
  • Difficulty urinating, other genital and urinary tract symptoms.
  • Sleep problems (insomnia).
  • Headache, dizziness, changes in taste.
  • Esophagitis, difficulty swallowing food or liquids.
  • Skin reactions.
  • Chills.
  • Weight gain.
  • Joint pain, jaw pain, muscle pain.
  • Pain in various parts of the body and at the tumor site.
  • High blood pressure.
  • Liver problems (abnormal liver function test results).
RARE
  • Heart failure, which can cause shortness of breath and swollen ankles, irregular heartbeat.
  • Lack of muscle control, which may be associated with abnormal gait, changes in speech, and abnormal eye movements (ataxia).
  • Blood poisoning (sepsis) with symptoms such as high fever or a general decline in health.
  • Heart attack (myocardial infarction).
  • Gastrointestinal bleeding.
  • Low sodium in the blood, causing weakness, muscle twitching, fatigue, confusion, or unconsciousness (this can sometimes be due to too much hormone causing fluid retention, known as SIADH).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to vinorelbine, other vinca alkaloid cancer medicines, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you are breastfeeding.
  • Do not take if you have had stomach or small intestine surgery, or have a condition affecting food absorption, as this may affect how the medicine is absorbed.
  • Do not take if you have a low white blood cell count and/or platelet count, or have had a severe infection recently (within the last two weeks).
  • Do not take if you have a low platelet count (thrombocytopenia).

  • Do not take if you are planning to get or have recently received a yellow fever vaccine.
  • Do not take if you are receiving long-term oxygen therapy.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have previously had a heart attack or severe chest pain.
  • Talk to your doctor if your ability to perform daily activities is greatly reduced.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have liver problems or have received radiation therapy that included the liver area.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have symptoms of infection (such as fever, chills, joint pain, cough).
  • Talk to your doctor if you plan to get vaccinated. Many vaccines (live attenuated vaccines) are not recommended during treatment.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have a severe liver disease not related to your cancer.
  • Talk to your doctor if you are pregnant.
