How to Use

Dosage

One film-coated tablet (50 mg/850 mg or 50 mg/1000 mg) twice daily.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with water. Take one tablet in the morning and one in the evening, with or right after a meal to reduce stomach upset.

Important

Maximum two tablets per day.

RARE
  • Lactic acidosis (signs include being very tired, dizzy, severe nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, irregular heartbeat, fast breathing, low body temperature)
  • Angioedema (swelling of the face, tongue, or throat, difficulty swallowing or breathing, sudden rash or hives)
  • Liver disease (yellow skin or eyes, nausea, loss of appetite, dark urine)
  • Pancreatitis (severe and continuous stomach pain that may spread to your back, with nausea and vomiting)
  • Tiredness
  • Weakness
  • Metallic taste
  • Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia)
  • Loss of appetite
  • Swelling of hands, ankles, or feet (edema)
  • Chills
  • Muscle pain
  • Skin redness or itching
  • Low vitamin B12 levels (can cause paleness, tiredness, confusion, memory problems)
  • Skin peeling or blisters
  • Inflammation of blood vessels in the skin (vasculitis), causing rash or bruises

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to vildagliptin, metformin, or any other ingredients.
  • Do not take if you have uncontrolled diabetes with very high blood sugar (hyperglycemia), severe nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fast weight loss, lactic acidosis, or ketoacidosis. These are serious conditions.
  • Do not take if you have recently had a heart attack, have heart failure, severe circulation or breathing problems, severe kidney problems, or liver problems.
  • Do not take if you have a severe infection, are severely dehydrated, are having major surgery, or are going for a special X-ray using an injected dye. Your doctor will tell you when to stop and restart the medicine in these situations.
  • Avoid drinking large amounts of alcohol as it increases the risk of a serious side effect called lactic acidosis.

  • Do not take this medicine if you are breastfeeding.
  • Lactic acidosis is a very rare but very serious side effect. Stop taking this medicine and seek immediate medical help if you get symptoms like vomiting, stomach pain, muscle cramps, feeling very tired, difficulty breathing, low body temperature, or a slow heartbeat.
