How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you or your child the correct dose. For adults, a typical dose may be 5 mg or 10 mg daily. Children's doses are calculated based on their weight.

Method

Take this medicine by mouth once a day. You can take it before or after a meal, but always with a glass of water. Do not take it with food or other drinks.

Important

Maximum 10 mg (10 ml) per day for adults. Children's dose is determined by weight according to doctor's instructions.

  • allergic skin rash
  • decreased appetite
  • high potassium levels in the blood which can cause abnormal heart rhythm

  • liver dysfunction
  • muscle weakness
  • kidney dysfunction

Important Warnings

  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience a severe allergic reaction (such as rash, itching, swelling, difficulty breathing) or severe skin reactions (blistering, peeling).
  • Do not take this medicine if you have difficulty urinating or emptying your bladder completely (urinary retention) and do not use a catheter.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have a severe stomach or bowel condition (including a condition called toxic megacolon, which can sometimes occur with severe bowel inflammation).
  • Do not take this medicine if you have a muscle disease called myasthenia gravis, which causes severe muscle weakness.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have high pressure in your eyes and worsening vision (glaucoma).

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to solifenacin or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have kidney disease requiring dialysis.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have severe liver disease.
  • This medicine may cause blurred vision, drowsiness, and tiredness. Do not drive or use machines if you experience these effects.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Anticholinergic. Reduce the dose in severe renal impairment. Significant adverse effects include tachycardia, confusion and cognitive impairment.. Consider the risk of QT prolongation especially when combined with other QT-prolonging drugs. Increases risk of falls. Reduces the effectiveness of drugs for Alzheimer’s disease. (updated 25.11.2024)
