How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is one 5 mg tablet once a day; your doctor may increase it to 10 mg once a day if needed.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with water. You can take them with or without food.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 10 mg.

Important Warnings

  • If you have difficulty emptying your bladder completely (urinary retention).
  • If you have a severe stomach or bowel condition.
  • If you have a muscle weakness condition called myasthenia gravis.
  • If you have high eye pressure and your vision is getting worse (glaucoma).
  • If you are allergic to solifenacin or any other ingredient in this medicine.

  • If you have severe kidney or liver disease, especially if you are taking certain other medicines.
  • This medicine should not be given to children or adolescents under 18 years of age.
  • Vesicare may cause blurred vision, drowsiness, or tiredness, which can affect your ability to drive or operate machinery.
  • If you experience a severe allergic reaction (angioedema), such as swelling of your face, tongue, or throat, difficulty swallowing or breathing, or hives, stop taking the medicine and contact your doctor immediately.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D

Avoid use in older adults. Anticholinergic. Reduce the dose in severe renal impairment. Significant adverse effects include tachycardia, confusion and cognitive impairment.. Consider the risk of QT prolongation especially when combined with other QT-prolonging drugs. Increases risk of falls. Reduces the effectiveness of drugs for Alzheimer’s disease. (updated 25.11.2024)
