How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose for adults and children over 1.5 years is 2.5 mg. The dose can be increased up to 5 mg. Your doctor will tell you your exact dose.

Method

This medicine is taken by inhaling it with a nebulizer, as directed by your doctor. Do not swallow or inject it.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 5 mg, taken four times a day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Tremor
  • Headache
  • Fast heartbeat
  • Palpitations
  • Irritation of mouth and throat
  • Muscle cramps
RARE
  • Low blood potassium
  • Dilation of peripheral blood vessels
  • Hypersensitivity reactions (e.g., swelling of eyes, face, lips, throat, rash, bronchospasm, low blood pressure, fainting)
  • Hyperactivity
  • Heart rhythm disorders
  • Wheezing after use (paradoxical bronchospasm)
  • Lactic acidosis
  • Chest pain

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to salbutamol or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have had heart disease, irregular heartbeat, or chest pain.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have an overactive thyroid, low potassium levels, diabetes, or glaucoma (high eye pressure).
  • Contact your doctor immediately if your asthma symptoms worsen or the medicine no longer helps as before.
  • Stop using the medicine and contact your doctor immediately if breathing difficulties worsen right after taking the medicine, or if you have a severe allergic reaction (e.g., facial swelling, rash, low blood pressure) or lactic acidosis (rapid breathing, shortness of breath, nausea, abdominal pain).
