How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose for adults and children is 2.5 mg. For those over 1.5 years old, the dose can be increased to 5 mg.

Method

This medicine is for inhalation only using a nebulizer as directed by your doctor. Do not inject or swallow it.

Important

Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor. The dose can be given a maximum of four times a day for those over 1.5 years old.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Tremor
  • Headache
  • Fast heartbeat
RARE
  • Palpitations
  • Throat irritation
  • Muscle cramps
  • Low blood potassium
  • Widening of peripheral blood vessels
  • Allergic reactions (e.g., swelling of eyes, face, lips, throat, rash, constricted airways, low blood pressure, fainting)
  • Hyperactivity
  • Heart rhythm disorders
  • Wheezing immediately after taking the medicine (paradoxical bronchospasm)
  • Lactic acidosis (symptoms include fast breathing, shortness of breath, cold sensation, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting)
  • Chest pain

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to salbutamol or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had heart disease, irregular heartbeat, chest pain, overactive thyroid, low potassium levels, diabetes (especially with corticosteroid treatment), or glaucoma.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if your asthma symptoms worsen or if Ventoline becomes less effective.
  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, planning to become pregnant, or suspect you might be pregnant, consult your doctor before using this medicine.

Category A
