How to Use

Dosage

For sudden breathing problems, take one inhalation (100 micrograms). To prevent asthma symptoms from exercise or allergens, adults take two inhalations (200 micrograms) and children (6-12 years) take one inhalation (100 micrograms) 10-15 minutes before the activity. Children may take a second inhalation if needed.

Method

Inhale the powder deeply and quickly through the mouthpiece, then hold your breath for a few seconds. You should hear a click during inhalation. Breathe out before putting your lips around the mouthpiece, and do not breathe into the inhaler.

Important

Adults should not take more than 8 inhalations (800 micrograms) in 24 hours. Children (6-12 years) should not take more than 4 inhalations (400 micrograms) in 24 hours.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Taste changes (bad, unpleasant, or unusual taste)
  • Mouth and throat irritation
  • Burning sensation on the tongue
  • Trembling fingers or hands
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea
  • Sweating
  • Restlessness
  • Headache
RARE
  • Fast heart rate
  • Heart rhythm disorders (e.g., atrial fibrillation)
  • Extra heartbeats
  • Palpitations
  • Changes in blood pressure (low or high)
  • Widening of blood vessels (peripheral)
  • Low blood potassium
  • Increased blood sugar levels
  • Increased levels of insulin, free fatty acids, glycerol, and ketone bodies
  • Hyperactivity (especially in children under 12)
  • Muscle pain
  • Muscle cramps
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath during or after inhalation (paradoxical bronchospasm)
  • Hypersensitivity reactions (itching, hives, rash, skin redness, low blood pressure, swelling of face and throat - contact doctor immediately if these occur)
  • Reduced platelet count
  • Kidney inflammation
  • Fainting
  • Severe irritability
  • Sleep problems
  • Hallucinations (especially in children under 12)
  • Chest pain (due to heart problems like angina pectoris)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Ventilastin Novolizer if you are allergic to salbutamol, lactose, or milk protein found in lactose.
  • Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine if you have severe heart disease (especially a recent heart attack), coronary artery disease, certain heart muscle diseases, fast heartbeats, high blood pressure, an abnormal widening of a blood vessel (aneurysm), overactive thyroid, difficult-to-treat diabetes, or a certain adrenal gland tumor.
  • If your shortness of breath gets worse right after using the inhaler, contact a doctor immediately.
