How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is 75 mg once a day. Your doctor may adjust your dose.

Method

Take the capsules whole with liquid, either in the morning or evening, with food. Do not open, crush, chew, or dissolve the capsules.

Important

The maximum daily dose for depression is 375 mg. For other conditions, the maximum daily dose is 225 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Dizziness, headache, and feeling sleepy.
  • Trouble sleeping (insomnia).
  • Feeling sick to your stomach (nausea), dry mouth, or constipation.
  • Sweating a lot, sometimes at night.
  • Not feeling like eating as much.
  • Feeling confused or like things aren't real, or having strange dreams.
  • Less interest in sex or problems with orgasm or erection.
  • Feeling restless, nervous, or unable to sit or stand still.
  • Shaking (tremor), tingling or 'pins and needles' feeling, or muscle stiffness.
  • Blurred vision, dilated pupils, trouble focusing, or ringing in the ears.
  • Fast heartbeat, feeling your heart pound, or high blood pressure.
  • Shortness of breath or yawning a lot.
  • Mild skin rash or itching.
  • Needing to urinate more often, or having trouble urinating.
  • Menstrual problems, such as increased or irregular bleeding, ejaculation or orgasm problems (men), or erectile dysfunction.
  • Feeling weak, tired, or having chills.
  • Changes in weight (gain or loss) or higher cholesterol levels.
RARE
  • Severe allergic reaction with swelling of your face, mouth, tongue, throat, hands or feet, and/or itchy rash (hives), making it hard to swallow or breathe. Get medical help right away.
  • Feeling overly excited (mania) or seeing/hearing things that aren't there (hallucinations).
  • Fainting, involuntary muscle movements, or trouble with coordination and balance.
  • Bloody vomit, black (tarry) stools, or blood in your stools. This could mean bleeding inside your body.
  • Skin becoming very sensitive to sunlight, bruising easily, or unusual hair loss.
  • Muscle stiffness, cramps, or involuntary muscle movements.
  • Seizures.
  • Severe cough, wheezing, and shortness of breath, possibly with a high fever.
  • Feeling very confused and disoriented, often with hallucinations (delirium).
  • Too much water in your body (SIADH syndrome) or low sodium levels in your blood.
  • Severe eye pain and vision becoming worse or blurry.
  • Severe stomach or back pain, which could mean a serious problem with your gut, liver, or pancreas.
  • Itching, yellowing of your skin or eyes, dark urine, or flu-like symptoms. These could be signs of liver inflammation (hepatitis).
  • Thoughts of harming yourself or taking your own life.
  • Aggressive behavior.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Venorion if you are allergic to venlafaxine or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take Venorion if you are currently taking, or have taken in the last 14 days, certain medicines called MAO inhibitors for depression or Parkinson's disease.
  • Talk to your doctor if you are taking other medicines that could increase the risk of serotonin syndrome when taken with Venorion.
  • Tell your doctor if you have eye problems, such as certain types of glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye).
  • Tell your doctor if you have high blood pressure, heart problems, or an abnormal heart rhythm.

  • Tell your doctor if you have a history of seizures.
  • Tell your doctor if you have a history of bleeding disorders or if you take medicines that increase bleeding risk (e.g., warfarin).
  • Tell your doctor if you or a close family member has had mania or bipolar disorder.
  • Tell your doctor if you have a history of aggressive behavior.
  • Do not drink alcohol while taking Venorion, as it can cause extreme tiredness and unconsciousness.
  • If you have thoughts of harming yourself or committing suicide, contact a doctor or go to the nearest hospital immediately.
  • Do not stop taking Venorion or reduce your dose without talking to your doctor first.
  • Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how this medicine affects you.
