How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you the right dose. For central diabetes insipidus, the usual starting dose is 0.25 ml three times a day. For bedwetting, it's usually 0.5 ml one hour before bedtime.

Method

Take this medicine by mouth using the special syringe provided. Always follow your doctor's instructions. If you are treating bedwetting, limit how much you drink for 1 hour before and 8 hours after taking Veluna.

Important

Do not take more than 3 ml (1080 micrograms) of Veluna in a single day.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Veluna if you are allergic to desmopressin or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take Veluna if you drink unusually large amounts of fluid.
  • Do not take Veluna if you are taking medicines that increase urine production (diuretics).
  • Do not take Veluna if you have heart problems.
  • Do not take Veluna if you have had low sodium levels in your blood or cannot limit your fluid intake.

  • Do not take Veluna if your kidneys do not work well.
  • While using Veluna, avoid drinking too much fluid to prevent water buildup in your body and/or low sodium levels.
  • Stop taking Veluna and seek medical help right away if you get symptoms of too much water in your body, like a bad or long-lasting headache, dizziness, feeling sick or throwing up, unexplained weight gain, seizures, or passing out.
  • Stop taking Veluna and seek medical help right away if you get an allergic reaction like a rash, itching, fever, swelling of your lips, face, throat, or tongue, or trouble swallowing or breathing.
