How to Use

Dosage

Adults and children aged 6 months to 17 years receive one 0.5 ml dose. Children under 9 who have not been vaccinated against influenza before should receive a second 0.5 ml dose at least four weeks after the first dose.

Method

A doctor or nurse will give the vaccine as an injection into a muscle or under the skin.

Important

This vaccine is given as a single or two-dose course, and no daily maximum dose is specified.

  • Severe allergic reactions like rash, itching, difficulty breathing, swelling of face, lips, throat or tongue, low blood pressure, rapid heartbeat, cold/clammy skin, dizziness, weakness, or fainting (anaphylactic reaction, angioedema, shock)
  • Swollen glands in the neck, armpits, or groin
  • Unusual weakness
  • Fatigue
  • Drowsiness
  • Dizziness
  • Excessive sweating
  • Joint pain
  • Nausea
  • Itching at the injection site
  • Warmth at the injection site
  • Discomfort at the injection site
  • Numbness or tingling sensation

  • Moaning or crying (in children)
  • Low blood platelet count, which can lead to increased bruising or bleeding
  • Unusual crying (in children under 24 months)
  • Rash at the injection site
  • Nerve pain
  • Seizures
  • Neurological problems like stiff neck, confusion, numbness, pain and weakness in arms/legs, balance problems, altered reflexes, and paralysis (e.g., encephalomyelitis, neuritis, Guillain-Barré syndrome)
  • Blood vessel inflammation, which can cause skin rash and temporary kidney problems

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Vaxigrip if you or your child are allergic to the active ingredients, any other ingredient in this vaccine, or to very small amounts of substances like egg, neomycin, formaldehyde, or octoxinol-9.
  • Tell your doctor if you or your child have a weak immune system (immunodeficiency or taking medicines that affect the immune system).
  • Tell your doctor if you or your child have bleeding disorders or bruise easily.
  • If you or your child have an acute illness with a fever, vaccination should be postponed until the fever is gone.
  • Fainting can occur (especially in young people) after or even before any needle injection. Tell your doctor if you or your child have fainted before due to an injection.
