How to Use

Dosage

The treatment usually starts with one 0.5 mg tablet once daily for 3 days, then one 0.5 mg tablet twice daily for 4 days, followed by one 1 mg tablet twice daily for 12 weeks.

Method

Take tablets whole with water, with or without food.

Important

The maximum daily dose is usually 2 mg (one 1 mg tablet taken twice a day).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to varenicline or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Stop taking this medicine and contact your doctor immediately if you experience depression, agitation, unusual mood changes, or suicidal thoughts or behavior.
  • Tell your doctor if you have heart problems, and seek urgent medical help if you develop symptoms of a heart attack or stroke.
  • Inform your doctor if you have a history of seizures or epilepsy, as some people have experienced seizures while on this medicine.
  • Stop taking this medicine and seek immediate medical attention if you experience signs of a severe allergic reaction, such as swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, or difficulty breathing.
