Vancomycin Strides is an antibiotic used to treat serious bacterial infections in the gut, especially those caused by Clostridium difficile.
The usual dose is 125 mg, taken every six hours. Your doctor might give you a higher dose up to 500 mg every six hours if needed.
Swallow the capsules whole with water. Do not chew or crush them.
Do not take more than 2 grams (2000 mg) total in one day.
Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Applies to orally administered preparations. There is absorption in intestinal inflammation, which predisposes to systemic adverse effects. This must be considered especially in renal impairment. (updated 10.6.2024)
