How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is one Valsartore Comp tablet per day.

Method

Take the tablet at the same time each day, usually in the morning, with or without food, swallowed with a glass of water.

Important

Do not take more than your doctor prescribes, usually one tablet per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Cough
  • Low blood pressure
  • Dizziness
  • Dehydration (thirst, dry mouth, less frequent urination, dark urine, dry skin)
  • Muscle pain
  • Fatigue
  • Tingling or numbness
  • Blurred vision
  • Ringing or buzzing in ears
  • Spinning sensation (vertigo)
  • Stomach pain
  • Low potassium levels in blood
  • Increased fat levels in blood
  • Low sodium levels in blood
  • Low magnesium levels in blood
  • High uric acid levels in blood
  • Itchy rash or other skin rashes
  • Decreased appetite
  • Mild nausea and vomiting
  • Dizziness or fainting when standing up
  • Inability to get or keep an erection
RARE
  • Dizziness
  • Diarrhea
  • Joint pain
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Greatly reduced urine output
  • Low blood potassium (with muscle weakness, cramps, irregular heartbeat)
  • Low white blood cells (with fever, skin infections, sore throat, mouth sores, weakness)
  • High bilirubin (causing yellow skin and eyes)
  • High urea and creatinine (may indicate kidney problems)
  • High uric acid (may cause gout)
  • Fainting
  • Swelling in the gut (intestinal angioedema) with stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea
  • Blistering skin rash (bullous dermatitis)
  • Skin rash with itching, fever, joint pain, muscle pain, swollen lymph nodes, or flu-like symptoms
  • Purple spots on skin, rash, fever, itching (blood vessel inflammation)
  • Low platelet count (unusual bleeding or bruising)
  • High blood potassium (with muscle cramps and irregular heartbeat)
  • Allergic reactions (rash, itching, hives, difficulty breathing or swallowing, dizziness)
  • Swelling, mainly of face and throat, rash, itching
  • Increased liver enzyme levels
  • Low hemoglobin and red blood cells (may cause anemia)
  • Kidney problems
  • Skin swelling and blisters due to sun sensitivity
  • High calcium levels in blood
  • High blood sugar
  • Sugar in urine
  • Worsening of diabetic condition
  • Constipation, diarrhea, or stomach discomfort
  • Liver problems (may cause yellow skin and eyes)
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Headache
  • Sleep problems
  • Depression
  • Low platelets (may cause bleeding or bruising)
  • Vision problems
  • Blood vessel inflammation (with rash, purple spots, fever)
  • Facial rash, joint pain, muscle problems, fever (lupus-like symptoms)
  • Severe upper stomach pain (pancreatitis)
  • Breathing problems with fever, cough, wheezing, shortness of breath (pneumonia, fluid in lungs)
  • Pale skin, fatigue, shortness of breath, dark urine (hemolytic anemia)
  • Fever, sore throat, or mouth sores due to infections (low white blood cells)
  • Confusion, fatigue, muscle twitching and cramps, rapid breathing (hypochloremic alkalosis)
  • Weakness, bruising, and frequent infections (aplastic anemia)
  • Severely reduced urine output (possible kidney problems)
  • Rash with skin redness, blisters on lips, eyes or mouth, peeling skin, fever (erythema multiforme)

  • Weakness
  • Non-melanoma skin and lip cancer

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to valsartan, hydrochlorothiazide, related medicines (sulfonamides), or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you are pregnant, especially in the last 6 months. Avoid also in early pregnancy.
  • Do not use if you have severe liver disease, severe kidney disease, cannot produce urine, or are on dialysis.
  • Do not use if your blood potassium or sodium levels are too low, or if your calcium levels are too high, despite treatment.
  • Tell your doctor if you have ever had swelling of the tongue or face (angioedema) with other medicines. If this happens with Valsartore Comp, stop taking it and see a doctor immediately.

  • Protect your skin from sun and UV light. Long-term use of this medicine might increase the risk of skin or lip cancer. Tell your doctor about any new skin changes.
  • If you have had breathing problems or fluid in the lungs after taking hydrochlorothiazide, tell your doctor. Seek immediate medical attention if you develop severe shortness of breath after taking Valsartore Comp.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Effectiveness is reduced in renal impairment. Consider risk of orthostatic hypotension and hyponatraemia and -kalemia. (updated 19.5.2025)
