How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is one Valsartore Comp tablet once a day.

Method

Take the tablet every day at the same time, usually in the morning. You can take it with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

Important

Your doctor will tell you the maximum daily dose; do not change it without consulting your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Low potassium levels in your blood
  • Increased fat (lipid) levels in your blood
  • Low sodium levels in your blood
  • Low magnesium levels in your blood
  • High uric acid levels in your blood
  • Itchy skin rash and other rashes
  • Decreased appetite
  • Mild nausea and vomiting
  • Dizziness or fainting when standing up
  • Inability to get or keep an erection
RARE
  • Cough
  • Low blood pressure
  • Dizziness or spinning sensation (vertigo)
  • Dehydration (symptoms like thirst, dry mouth, less urination)
  • Muscle pain
  • Tingling or numbness
  • Blurred vision or other vision problems, eye pain
  • Ringing or buzzing in the ears
  • Diarrhea
  • Joint pain
  • Abdominal pain
  • Severe skin reactions including rash, redness, blisters on lips, eyes, or mouth, peeling skin, fever (toxic epidermal necrolysis, erythema multiforme)
  • Yellow skin or eyes (jaundice)
  • Fever, sore throat, frequent infections due to low white blood cells
  • Sudden severe breathing problems with fever, weakness, confusion
  • Fluid accumulation in the eye leading to vision problems or eye pain (acute angle-closure glaucoma)
  • Swelling of the intestines (abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea)
  • Changes in liver function tests, liver problems
  • Kidney problems or reduced kidney function
  • Low red blood cell count (anemia) or low platelet count (easy bruising or bleeding)
  • High calcium levels in your blood
  • High blood sugar levels, worsening of diabetes
  • Fainting
  • Depressed mood, sleep problems
  • Allergic reactions with swelling of face, throat, or tongue; rash, itching, hives, difficulty breathing
  • Increased sensitivity of skin to sun, leading to rash or blisters
  • Inflammation of blood vessels (vasculitis), causing rash, red spots, fever
  • Severe upper stomach pain (pancreatitis)
  • Lung problems like pneumonia or fluid in the lungs (shortness of breath, cough, wheezing, fever)
  • Pale skin, tiredness, shortness of breath, dark urine (hemolytic anaemia)
  • Muscle cramps
  • Weakness, bruising and repeated infections (aplastic anaemia)
  • Fever
  • Weakness
  • Non-melanoma skin or lip cancer

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to valsartan, hydrochlorothiazide, sulfonamides, or any other ingredients in the medicine.
  • Do not use Valsartore Comp if you are pregnant, especially after the first three months, as it can harm your baby.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver disease, severe kidney disease, cannot produce urine, or are on dialysis.
  • Do not take if your blood potassium or sodium levels are too low, or calcium levels are too high, even with treatment.
  • Do not take if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are taking another blood pressure medicine called aliskiren.

  • If you get sudden swelling of your face, tongue, or throat, or have trouble breathing, stop taking this medicine immediately and seek medical help. This could be a serious allergic reaction called angioedema.
  • Taking hydrochlorothiazide for a long time at high doses can increase your risk of skin cancer. Protect your skin from sun exposure.
  • If you experience blurred vision or eye pain, especially within hours to weeks of starting treatment, seek medical attention. These could be signs of serious eye conditions.
  • If you have ever had breathing problems or lung issues after taking hydrochlorothiazide, or if you develop severe shortness of breath after taking Valsartore Comp, seek immediate medical care.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Effectiveness is reduced in renal impairment. Consider risk of orthostatic hypotension and hyponatraemia and -kalemia. (updated 19.5.2025)
