How to Use

Dosage

One tablet once a day.

Method

Take one tablet daily, usually in the morning, with or without food, swallowed with a glass of water. Do not change the dose or stop taking it without your doctor's advice.

Important

Maximum one tablet per day, unless otherwise instructed by your doctor.

  • High uric acid in blood
  • Itchy rash or other skin rashes
  • Loss of appetite
  • Mild nausea and vomiting
  • Dizziness or fainting when standing up
  • Erectile dysfunction
RARE
  • Cough
  • Low blood pressure
  • Dizziness
  • Dehydration (symptoms include thirst, dry mouth, dark urine, and dry skin)
  • Muscle pain
  • Fatigue
  • Tingling or numbness
  • Blurred vision
  • Ringing or buzzing in the ears
  • Vertigo (a spinning sensation)
  • Abdominal pain
  • Skin swelling and blistering from sun sensitivity
  • High blood calcium
  • High blood sugar
  • Sugar in urine
  • Worsening of diabetes
  • Constipation, diarrhea, stomach discomfort, liver problems (which may include yellowing of skin or eyes)
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Headache
  • Insomnia
  • Depressed mood
  • Low platelet count (may cause bleeding or bruising)
  • Visual disturbances
  • Diarrhea
  • Joint pain

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to valsartan, hydrochlorothiazide, sulfonamides, soy, peanuts, or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you are more than 3 months pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
  • Tell your doctor if you have severe liver or kidney disease, or if you cannot urinate (anuria).
  • Inform your doctor if your blood potassium or sodium levels are too low, or if your calcium levels are too high.
  • Do not use if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are taking a blood pressure medicine containing aliskiren.

  • If you experience swelling of your face, tongue, or throat (angioedema) while taking this medicine, stop immediately and seek medical attention.
  • Hydrochlorothiazide may increase the risk of skin cancer. Protect your skin from sun exposure. Inform your doctor if you have had skin cancer or notice any new skin changes.
  • If you experience decreased vision or eye pain, stop taking the medicine immediately and contact a doctor, as this could lead to permanent vision loss.
  • If you develop sudden severe shortness of breath or breathing difficulties after taking this medicine, seek immediate medical attention.
